I went over to Cheltenham to see the reel, I think it is unused and Paul W confirmed that some of his 1920 replicas were single ventilated, no particular reason just what he wanted to do. Given the price it would have to be exactly what I wanted and it isn't quite that, I'm happy with what I've got.

I can appreciate that as so few were made, scarcity equals a very high price. But seriously, how good are they? In terms of performance would it compare with my rather battered Speedia?

My estimate was twenty quid too high then. It was very tempting but I'm glad it's not my money changing hands, there's better deals to be had I think.

Just playing Devils Advocate here - honest! ... if you personally did not particularly like these reels, but had a brand new one, cased with papers, tucked away as an investment ... would you offer it up for sale now, or hang onto it? - and if hanging on to it, anyone care to speculate where they think prices may end up in years to come?
