Hi Judy,

Personally, I would not bother with any of the above as I have and would recommend highly the Fuji Finepix HS20EXR. Does everything an SLR will do plus more, X30 zoom lens wihich is equivalent to 24-720(YES 720) mm and in the EXR mode it is stunning!!!! Just type in fuji finepix hs20 into Amazon and read and mor important WATCH THE VIDEO.

It has more settings than Ive had hot dinners. If you want to take a photo there will be a setting for it on the hs20 (or you can just use it in the EXR mode and it does it all for you)

It's as goos as any slr camera Ive used.

Just one big fish, PLEASE!!!!!!

I'm a canon user and currently run a 7D and a 400D as a spare (although i'm considering getting this one converted to IR) and all of your choices seem to be pretty good, a mate of mine had a 60D a was very pleased with it, its worth seeing which body feels more comfortable to you to use in a shop before you make a final decision as some of the bodies are heavier and the layout of some of the bodies may feel slightly more awkward to use than the others.

The best way if you have the cash and patience is to buy just the body and then get the lenses to suit your needs (remember your buying into a lens system really as you'll be still using the same lenses when your on your 3rd or 4th SLR body if you invest wisely in decent glass).

You don't need a million & one settings I normally use just 3,most commonly AV mode(aperture priority), occasionally fully manual mode and 1 custom setting which i have preprogrammed for HDRs.

Save your money; buy a second hand 450d and spend what you save on a good lens or two! :)

Seriously; hunt down an older Canon like 450d or 500 range 2nd hand and spend the rest on some lenses! A nice 300mm or similar and you'll be set!

Of the four cameras you've listed the 60D should have the best potential, (that's how Canon's numbering system works).

If you're likely to continue to use the auto mode I do wonder if you shouldn't just stay with what you already have - from reading some of the reviews it's a very capable camera with a zoom far in excess of anything you can put on an SLR.

Have you thought about hiring an SLR and lens/es for a week or so? It might help you decide if an SLR is for you?
