Forgive me if I`m a tad ignorant about these things. Save all information you need. Word items, jpg`s, games save files etc. Then just wipe the hard drive and reinstall.

Might sound like hard work?

The other one is titled "Utility CD Version 1.2"

Text ; "Please refer to the readme. txt before you begin to install the drivers.

A.Driver (Path:Driver)

B>Utility (Path:Utility)"

this sounds like your drivers disk what make of computer do you have as some come with a recovery cd and some have the actual windows cd. If it was bought from a smaller shop they might have sold you it all pre-installed and not gave you either.

I have ascertained that Windows ME came pre-installed on my computer, which is why I can,t find the CD (purchased from PC World).

I have the Manufacturers "Product Recovery CD", but this does not help my problem.

Thanks for all the advice, I will book it in to a Repair Centre and they can sort it out.

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))

You will find that with a PC World computer, the O/S install files are normally on a hidden partition on the hard drive. This is activated by the recovery disc. I can't remember if you have the option to reinstall tho or if it is a full wipe out of your system. You should be able to boot from the disc and get an options menu.

Hope this is of some use and you will be able to restore Outlook Express

I don't think you have to do anything really drastic, just re-install Outlook Express on top of the existing version. I think it's a free download. Failing that, if you installed your internet connection from a disk, it will almost certainly have a version of IE, although it will probably be branded by your ISP. All your personal settings and messages will remain intact.

I'm not sure I'm exactly right on this, but I'm sure I'm on the right lines. I am sure however that you don't need to do anything as drastic as reinstalling Windows ME.
