Welcome to the forum jonny :-)

Don't wish to be negative about your first posting but I suspect that very few people will be giving away hotspots, particularly where pike are concerned as they are usually only found after plenty of hard work, and are consequently kept quiet unless within someone's immediate circle of friends - not least because pike react very poorly to fishing pressure.

There ARE at leasta couple of regulars on here who target pike around your area - you might get very lucky and have one of them extend you an invite, but as an alternative, i'd keep an eye on the 'public' angling press, where such details are usually not treated as a national secret :-) ... if all else fails, head for Lomond - plenty of water to have a go at up there!

Thanks Phil.

You do make a fair point i suppose. Thought i would ask anyway, wasn't as if i was expecting exact co-ordinates ;) haha.

Yeah me and lads are planning a wee lomond trip soon so looking forward to that. Right now im just looking for any excuse to be able to go and have a rod in the water :)

Perhaps it would be more productive to discuss when you would like to go and the sorts of methods you intend to emply (Lures, deadbaits etc) and the type of water you are likely to target (Rivers, canals, lakes or the big lochs) and ask for a few watercraft tips that will help you to locate the fish and detiremine the best time to go after them for yourself.

jonny,

I can give you the exact co-ordinates for this old girl.

She was brought back from a fishing trip in Canada. The photo is because of the amazing contents in her gut. She had 13 identifiable fish.

Hello there,if you are new to fishing, maybe you should have a go for something else before you have a go for pike(FOR THE PIKES SAKE)what would your set up be,line breaking strain etc?

I have been fishing for a while now but new to pike fishing, but yeah i appreciate what you're are saying and i have been extremely conscious for the safety of the pike whilst fishing them.

i use semi barbed treble traces putting the barbed hook through my dead bait. Using 15lb or 18lb breaking strain with anything between a 1oz or 3oz weight depending on the size of my bait.

It maybe a good idea to either get an experienced pike fisherman to go with you and join the PAC. pike are very fragile indeed and once out of the water you have to un hook very quickly. The problem becomes worse if you have to un hook through the gills.

Also let it get some energy back in the water by just gently holding its tail it will go when ready.

They are not carp as many treat them that way sadly...
