I normally announce the dates of the next Wingham Fish-In just before Xmas so that those of you who have to book your holidays at that time don't miss out. Unfortunately I'll be having an operation then and so, as there are always questions, I'm posting the dates early this year. They're Sat May 17th to Monday May 19th.

Wingham Main Lake is a little-fished syndicate gravel pit in Kent that's normally members only. For those of you who don't display signatures here's a link to the Wingham web site: http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/fisheries/wingham.htm

Previous Fish-Ins have produced bream to 16-06, lots of 8lb+ tench to 10-04, plus eels to 5-10 and plenty of 3lb+ perch to 3-14.

Peggy will be doing her optional huge BBQ each lunchtime at a cost of approx £6.50 per day. As always though the fishing itself is free of charge.

Anyone who's made at least 1 post on the Forum when I start taking bookings is invited, but if I'm oversubscribed priority as usual will be given to those who haven't been before.

However please note that I won't be taking bookings until the first week in May.

For what it is worth, "my mate Ted" uses 18" hook lengths and puts a bit of soluble PVA foam to the hook. This settles slowly after the weight lands and so the bait settles slowly on the weed/silt.

A little advise re the amount of weed.   Have you ever been out on one of those days where its cloudy/showery but the sun keeps coming through.   You look around and all you can see is cloud. But

Hi steve good luck with the op mate. I would love to be on the list for the weekend.

Cheers, guys.

It would be good to see you again, Mike. Wingham's come on a lot since you last fished it.

Plus new guests are always welcome.

Hi Steve, good luck with your operation.

I'd love to be able to make it to Wingham next year, fingers crossed :)

As famous fisherman John Gierach once said "I used to like fishing because I thought it had some larger significance. Now I like fishing because it's the one thing I can think of that probably doesn't."
