New licences

It is nice to only have to buy one these days, although I have heard rumours that a 3-rod licence might be introduced in the near future, which would be a step forward.

I've heard the same rumour Andrew. If true, I hope it's not done like the two rod licence, where you have to buy a licence for three whether you use them or not. I would prefer a one rod licence, and then be able to buy 'add ons', up to the limit of four. The basic licence could be say, 15 or 16 quid, the additional ones at around 75% of the basic.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Makes no sense to me to charge more for more rods. I can't lend my rod and my licence to someone else. It's the person who is licenced, not the rod.

Just be thankful that it isn't an actual rod licence, and you have to have one for every rod you own!

There would be a lot more multi-tip rods on the market!

All,

Do you ever get old enough to be able to fish free. In Missouri over 65 fish free. Same in most states. Also, in Missouri, we get a "license" that allows you to fish. Then you just put name address etc on your poacher poles.

Nope. You do get young enough, though. Under 12s are free, 12-16 pay £5, over 65 or disabled pay £18 and full price is £27.

Some of my angling clubs have now given me free membership for life (one of them is also a free vice-presidency) and I now get a free Television Licence.

OTOH Most insurance companies are now looking to charge me more.

What I really need is a pub that dispenses free beer to pensioners !

I applied for my licences on the 3rd March and still waiting. My partner done hers a few days ealier and had it delivered within days.

The service just seems all over the place from one year to the next, some years I get them fast and others it takes for ever.

Stephen
