sorry if im going to offend anyone but the comments so far have been about the taxman ripping you smokers off but think about, who`s ripping you off most the taxman or the smuggler who buy`s a strip of fags for eight quid and sells them to you for twenty eight

Another vote for a total smoking ban I'm afraid.

 

If there was such thing as a considerate smoker, I wouldn't even consider it but restauraunts where people are eating in the next seat, bus shelters filled with old folks and kids and the "smoke free" areas of the few pubs that have them all seem to be considered appropriate places to smoke by some of the ignorant to55ers that I've had cause to have words with recently.

Do the maths, if you dont pay the tax opn your fags the gov will charge it on something else..... petrol probably just to get the topic going on this forum!! Tell me why is it acceptable to rip off the tax man but not the little old lady round the corner?

i read smokers contribute 6 billion and it costs the nhs 1.5 billion to treat them fair exchange i recon ,the remainder i expect keeps down taxes on cigars or champagne or something

who can guess the drink tax or how it effects the taxation ,not only direct things like liver transplants but indirect like drink drive incidents ,policing of licenced premisses at night and a thousand and one other drink related things ,like fights ,wife beatings ,housing of wives and children because their old man beats them after a few cans etc ,smokers rarely harm anyone bar nostrills.

if the tax on fags were to stop people smoking then the government is prepared to lose all of the tax if their ploy worked ,buying tax free fags doesent then effect anyone but the smokers health
