Storm Lures

Hi Garydog,

The only place I am aware that you can get hold of Storm Jointed Thundersticks is by buying them from the Americans off E-Bay. Dont pay $50 for them, just wait for a JBJ3 (silver scale) to be listed where they will ship worldwide and you should be able to pick one up for $15 plus shipping. Easiest thing to do is just send them dollars that you can buy easily from the Post Ofice, cash payments always seem to be generously recieved if you value good feedback. Great guys (& gals) to deal with in my experience and usually takes 4 days for post to get to them and 4 or 5 days to get back. E-bay is also great for buying Rapalas as well at a fraction of the price we have to pay over here (even after shipping costs) and the Post Office do not seem to bother charging duty on small packages (or didnt). Hot Tiger colour is unloved in Thundersticks and around $8.00, just buy one and spray it silver, they work really well when so doctored,; just do not try and dry the paint in the oven like one of my pals did!...unsurprisingly they melt and it is almost sacrilage to do this to a Thunderstick. If you cannot get some on E-Bay - Harris/Sportmails 'Mean Skipper' is um, well, rather similar, well actually very very similar to a Storm Jointed Thunderstick and they do a Pollack Colour that seems to work very well in poor light conditions.

Simon Everett Posted a few months ago that Harris/Sportmail were going to produce new Storm Jointed Thundersticks under licence but I have heard no more but if he is able to provide assistance in this regard it will probably be generously forthcoming if previous posts are anything to go by.

Good Luck, and if you come across 4norskis, Kurt is a good guy to try for Thundersticks

Harris sportsmail have got some but they are not called that!!

You will have to phone and ask what they call them - I don't now what the quality is like because my sample didn't arrive and it was sent out about 2 months ago. I would safely bet that it is lost in the post at this stage. They are about the same price as buying anything from the US, so it is just as well to go to Harris AND THEY SUPPORT BASS too - which the yanks don't!! (Just a bit of a hint there folks!)

Hi Dave

SJT's are now fairly rare but you can still buy them on e-bay at less than $50. I am afraid that you will just have to keep logging on and searching until something better than the guy selling at $50 Buy it Now, comes up. Log onto e-bay.com and not e-bay.co.uk and search under 'storm jointed'. I have not personally bought any for over a year off e-bay but mates of mine have. I cannot believe that they have dried up yet. I will have a search around myself and see what I can find. Do not worry too much as the Mean Skipper is a darned good lure. Good Luck

Hi Dave

Just had a reccy on e-bay.com. There have been around 20 deals between $8 and $56 per lure over the last couple of weeks so ignore the $50 buy-it-now guy and wait. Do not worry if it is a Hot Tiger or Red Hot Tiger or something like that, you can spray them as I have said before. JUST DO NOT PUT THEM IN THE OVEN :D

When you get hold of a Thunderstick you will see that the Mean Skipper is very similar. It is however not the same as the density of the plastics differs as well as the colour schemes but both are very good lures.

Good luck and enjoy catching your Thundersticks!

  • 3 weeks later...

I'm just having a look round this forum and reckon this question would have got a quicker reply elsewhere.

I agree that the JTS is a great bass lure and it's a pain that Pradco have discontinued them.

The good news is that I came accross this recently http://www.sovereignsuperbaits.co.uk/Lures...l#JointedVictim

The Jointed Victim is reckoned to be a (slightly heavier) copy of the JTS.

I've used this company recently and no probs with service etc.
