Don't ignore the ugly swims

There was a 4lb 10oz chub lurking below all that detritus, I fished it because it was deeper water out of the main flow but didn't expect much. A new PB for this venue by miles, sadly a phone malfunction (i.e. operator error) lost the two pics of the fish;

Pics or it never happened ;)

I jest nice one Chris! Currently sat watching my rod top twitch as I imagine crays ripping my bait to pieces

How can you fish, watch a forum and respond so quickly? All I had to do was take a couple of photos on a Blackberry and I still managed to mess that up. Good luck for the rest of the evening.

I've had a lot of practice at watching the tip and my phone while blanking! I sit so I can drop it and grab my rod in a split second, like a ninja

A chub crease swim if ever I saw one. Always a banker for big chub when two currents form an eddy, and a backwater. My very similar chub came from a very similar 'Crabtree swim'. Good in winter too, get the bait right under the undercut bank. Nice chub Rusty.

As regards. Barbel on the float - Don't bother with them, it's all smoke, mirrors, and witchcraft. I think Tigger dynamites them - the centre pin never looks dirty or used - have you noticed that? It's all cobblers. He's just a minnow basher.

Yeah, that Tigger, I've seen photos of him fishing, the centrepin stays in a fancy glass display case and the Normark in a fine silk rod bag. He bags up on the feeder then pulls them out for the pics ;)
