I went fishing in the last week. I did manage to satch 4 rocklings and 4 Whitings off of the Pier in my beloved Scarborough. Its not much of a report tha knows but ah just loves them rocklings. Someone ont pier once telt me that Back int war days when food was short there dad used to make a lovely soup witht mushed up Rockling. I didnt know if lad was serious or not. Mind he didnt lake a full shilling to me.

good old rocklings bailed some of the best anglers out in hard times, but i cant help thinking that i have met the loggie that you mentioned, and his fanastic tails of woe or was that cod woe soup. The waters been crystal clear around you latley went to robin hoods bay for a look the other night, plenty of jowel and swell still ther at the mo so i am led to belive. Hopefully these big tides will thicken things up a little over the next few tides and who knows bring a few codlings or maybe a spragg or two, HA HA

I fished from the shore behind peter pans playground a few weeks ago, got there about 02:30 for the 04:30 tide, about 07:00 i gave up and threw my bait in. A piece of squid floated along the top of the water, it got about 25 yards out when there was a big comotion and a splash, i nearly wet my pants in excitment

The thought of a big bass haunted me for a couple of days and nights and i went back again, this time with a controller float setup on one of the rods. The tide was about 18:00 and i got there two ours before, I spent four hours messing around with the controller when all of a sudden there was a splash in exactly the same place two nights previous, then another and another untill it erupted into a full blown fountain!

That was the moment i realised i'd been fishing for a sewage outlet

The only thing i caught in the two sessions was a lampost about 100yrd up southend pier :wallbash:

same story i'm afraid, did chesil cove on saturday, might as well have ate my bait ( which i have done on many occasions )

Hi, Im forum hopping (from kayak fishing ) 'cos I want some advice on boat fishing rod / reel and I noticed this ^.

Is chesil cove the almost landlocked lagoon behind that long shingle beach ?

If it is, I was camping behind it last year around July / August, and took a walk down to it as the tide was just starting to fill it. I don't know what fish were comming in with it but they were comming up to the surface here and there and thay weren't fry !

Had I been a fisherman at the time I would have taken more notice.

Conditions were warm and it was flat calm.

Kinda fancy a trip down there and fly fishing it from the yak.

Was there 3 months back and the beachcasters were catching the odd dogfish and one had a small 4lb codling. They also get garfish there.

Prowler 13 in MANGO.

Sweeeeet.....:)

I would think the bigger tides this week will improve things considerably

I fish to live and live to fish.
