I must say Sportsman, I am mighty impressed. You seem to have been everywhere, worked everywhere and seen and experienced everything.

Sorry to disappoint but I have. 33 years as a nurse and 25 of them working overseas. Next observation!!

Some 2,500 pensioners died from the COLD last year

I don't know where your figures come from, but assuming that you're talking about England & Wales, the official records give an average of 491 deaths annually between 1982 and 1997 - worrying enough without any need for exaggeration. I have to work with official statistics quite a bit, and the most recent reliable figures are always lagging a good few years behind.

Mind you, if you believe Help the Aged's figures: http://www.helptheaged.org.uk/CampaignsNew...ths/default.htm

the total of cold-related deaths last winter was 28,700, which just goes to show the value of statistics (or that you can use figures, without a source of reference, to mean whatever you want them to).

Interesting. It would be nice if they defined "cold related illness" or in what manner the cold "related" to the death.

to all not any one in particular[before i get jumped on]

why bother quoting official figures as they mean diddly

official figures are notorious for being twisted in the favour of whoever is using them
