Vagabond - another thought: in yottie shops (chandlers) you can buy waterproof cases of various sizes that are designed to keep things like specs and mobile phones safe and dry while you are doing very active and wet things for fun. Maybe they have something that is strong enough to protect your specs from your bum?

Go to a 'yottie' shop, loads to chose from in decent styles (& not expensive!) + hard and soft cases, also get a 'lanyard' to attach them to (again in decent styles) you may look like that Grayson p@@f but it stops e'm falling in the wet stuff.

i have a pair of clip-ons ,they are great just walkround the supermarket with them up and watch the kiddies response

Definately the best all round colour is brown/copper, unless you fish abroad a lot. I have tried lots and lots of different makes and have found the best to be Maui Jim, they do lots of styles so a pair can be used for anything not just fishing and they come in a solid case. They have a titanium frame so are very light. I wear spectacles, which makes getting good glasses difficult, but they do prescription lenses. I dealt with acompany called Nelson's Eye Patch in Norfolk and they were cheaper than buying them in the States

stupid question...what is the difference between 'normal' sunglasses and these?

 

I need a pair of subscription 'sunglasses' but don't want to fork out if I would be better off with the types mentioned here

Pugs - polorising sunglasses/lenses dramatically cut down on light reflection and glare from reflective surfaces allowing vision through the water surface.
