what is original?

you see the word original in lots of things but can it be? is coca cola the original recipy nope but its claimed as the original cola!

i love army and navy tablets (hard sweeties our older members will remember) theres a few makers but Paynes consider themselves and call their sweets the original Army and Navy tablets ,but hold on do they contain paregoric (no) i have a later jar with "paragoric flavour" which is getting away from the opium side more ,now paragoric isnt mentioned ......how can a sweet (or anything else) be original when it hasnt the original ingrediants in?????

time to buy a formulary (a chemists recipy book for stuff he sold)and see the original ingrediants and you will be surprised both army and navy and coca cola couldnt be sold in their original form so how can they claim to be original?

i had an old formulary which had a "cola" formula containing the real ingrediants so even coca cola isnt the original cola

another strange one is a mouthwash thats "ingredient" is the same dentists use (giving it a sign of respectability) err hold on is that ingredient water? if so they all contain it as the major ingredient and yes dentists use lots.

another one is Werthers original sweets errrrrr just a minute even the name isnt original it was Werther's Echte

Hovis isnt Hovis any members old enough to remember even the 1950's will testify to that ,home brewed beer isnt the same as the export version from the original country it came from and far from the domestic version drunk in that country so why can they imply XXXX has australian connections when its brewed here ,its not in the same can ,it doesnt use the same water and probably even the minutest ingrediant doesnt come from Oz but its classed as an australian beer (having tasted fosters when it was an import i can dismiss our version as crap)

heres another lie from a top sports shop buy "Adidas Original Shoe" errr no it isnt

"We invented the Wormery nearly 20 years ago!" .no you didnt

lots of things become original but are not ,we regard noahs ark's rhyme as the original non changed version since days of yore "the animals went in two by two" no they didnt there were seven of each according to the bible i believe

columbus and his crew feared they would fall over the edge of the earth ,no they didnt ,we knew the earth was round in greek and before times.but the flat earth rubbish is in a beer companies advert as truth.

the original 501's , no their not unless you pay a fortune certainly not in a store in every country in civilisation.

i even think the sign of the devil isnt originally 666 its 661 (i think)

The story of Coca Cola is a twisted and rather tragic tale (look up John Pemberton in Wikipedia). Barr's Red Kola as sold north of Hadrian's wall is still made with real kola nuts (or was in the 1970s). Your right about Castlemaine XXXX, it tastes much better in Oz, but I prefer Swan or VB. Even Kronenbourg 1664 tastes different here. A Draught pint of seize tastes and smells much better in France than 1664 does here, in France the aroma of hops leaps out of the beer at you.

BTW why is XXXX so called? Because Queenslanders can't spell beer. ;)

:D

talking of army and navy has overcome me with reminisses.

just thinking of saturday morning pictures in the 60's ,everlasting strip ......everlasting because you couldnt get all the wrapper off and chewed that ,scurrying under the seats looking for lolly sticks to fashion into pentagram shaped flying weapons to throw at old mother reilly (how anyone believed it was a woman i never knew) ,how times have changed.

there was genuine excitement in the queue waiting for the doors to open ,dramatic moments as the usher approached just as you noisily opened the emergency doors in to let your mates in for nothing .it was always sunny and you never knifed anyone

Does cats' **** also taste better in Oz?

English as tuppence, changing yet changeless as canal water, nestling in green nowhere, armoured and effete, bold flag-bearer, lotus-fed Miss Havishambling, opsimath and eremite, feudal, still reactionary, Rawlinson End.
