"Heads up" on yet another attempted scam

Yesterday morning I switched on my PC after a week away, and decided to check my E-mail

There was an E-mail allegedly from BT telling me that "as I had not responded to earlier E-mails" (there weren't any) unless I responded by 11th November to the link given, my E-mail address would be deleted.

B***** H*** !!

However, when I looked at the E-mail more closely I noticed the following

1. The E-mail was dated 11th November , received at 5.36 pm. (possible, but not likely that BT would give such short notice)

2. It started "Dear customer" (ie not personalised)

3. The E-mail address was "bt.com" (ie not btinternet.com or btopenworld .com)

4. The tone was a bit curt - not the usual obsequious "best attention at all times"

5. There were plenty of BT logos scattered about, but overall it didn't look quite right

So I diagnosed it as a "phishing" attempt, ignored it, and E-mails from my usual correspondents continue to arrive.

Just thought I'd alert y'all

Thanks for the info Dave, I haven't had that one (yet) but I've had a couple of dodgy Paypal emails, same thing, not personalised and "not quite right".....reported them to Paypal and they stopped!

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

:clap3: Had a pop up yesterday, supposedly from Adobe, telling me my computer was running slow and to download a "fix" and it would sort it out. Well, Adobe doesn't monitor my computer and those that do offer me a fix but want to charge me for it. I'd hate to think of the damage this "fix" would have done to my computer or what information it would have passed on to some ne'er do well in eastern europe. :bones:
