Ugly Fish

Paul sent me some pics yesterday to put in the album. He's had quite a few species lately from Whitby on sea otter 2. Of all the species, have you ever seen anything as ugly as this little critter ?

Might be ugly but it's just about the best tasting fish in the sea, sometimes sold as wolf fish or woof but identified as catfish. Never ever put your fingers anywhere near their teeth or jaws or its goodbye pinkies.

 

We used to give them a metal bar to crunch on to lock their jaws, far better than risking your fingers

Awww, ain't it cute What size was it? I haven't even seen one of these before, how big do they get and are they common?

Anyone who watched Dr Who in the 70's knows that that's a baby Sea Devil.

Ken, I knew it reminded me of something and just as I remembered you had beat me to it wonder if that where they got the idea from?

Quite common off Norway and I've had them over 10lb but I don't know how big they grow but I concur about the good eating and keeping away from the teeth.

A lovely little wolf, they taste marvellous probably cos they spend their lives munching crabs and shellfish,lucky fella whoever caught / ate it.
