Norry, Im not avoiding you m8, been doing the E-Bay bit so just flitting from there to hear.

how big would you say it is from the pic?

I gess it went 4 to 5lb myself.

I would say the same... 4lb anyway. Anybody fishing close in for ballans in shallow water has really got to try them on the fly-rod. It really is hit and hold, and they can pull some on that sort of gear! I atatched a swivel to give it some wieght and threaded on ragworm. Not really the done thing, but i couldnt get them to look at artificials :D

Sam, I would guess at about 4lb ...good fish, in fact, very good fish.,...bet you are well pleased....

Here, I can show you a pic or two of the Wrasse fillets if you want.... :P ...ok, mibbes not then.... :D

I was using a carp rod, ABU 5500, and 10lb line, faily sporting, and it did go well.I love the clours.

I was speaking to Geoff Hancock of B.A.S.S. at the BMP launch a while back. He has had many Wrasse on the fly in North Wales using dark coloured clousers.

I had one of 4lb-something on a rapala J11 a while back 2 rod lengths out. I would say that pound for pound they're one of the best fighters in the sea. They may not scream off like a bass or mulet, but they certainly know how to shake their heads and smash you up!
