no problems round here yet ,but car boots are definately becoming over run by asian and russian?? phone and electronic goods buyers buying up everything remotely modern so bargains in that area getting scarce :(

body armour EH i can just see me waddling along on my honda90 with even more weight on board then having to chase these naughty individuals

not sure how the more popular fishing spots in the area are but my local is pretty well hidden which could favour the club or by its being hidden away favour the less welcome fishermen

unfortunately welcoming every foreigner for any reason with open arms also imports their lifestyle which is vastly different to ours ,and whilst theres no-one around (police wise) to enforce the law both them and the worst of us do what they like with no fear of the consequences

its not the law forbidding people doing this or that the people are afraid of itsgetting caught at the moment theres little chance of even getting caught (far less for being punished) so people break the law because they can

forget all this guff like the poor chap didnt understand the law (ignorence isnt an excuse under the law)if it applies to us it should apply to them :wallbash:

just wait till the next lot of foreigners come their even more wild

That was the worst piece of "reporting" I have read in a long time.

What exactly does this mean

"with some estimates suggesting several are caught fishing for carp for the dinner plate every week." (note the words "some" and "suggesting")

How do you square this

"And the Environment Agency has introduced high-impact fisheries enforcement officers, equipped with body armour, handcuffs and expandable batons, to deal with the threat."

with this

"An Environment Agency spokesman said the problem of fish theft was often perceived to be worse than it was.

Most people they checked had licences and were fishing legally."

and what is this about

"John Orr, an Environment Agency manager based in Brampton, said rod licences allowed people to catch and kill two fish every day,"

Someone seems to be trying to make a lot out of a little.

For the record and before I come in for any more abuse and get accused of being a pinko, lefty, limp wristed, PC softy I would like to say that anyone caught fishing illegally, and that includes without the correct license, with the wrong baits or tackle or even methods; should be held accountable and should be prosecuted, regardless of nationality and should suffer the due process of law and receive an APPROPRIATE punishment. Bar None! and that includes British Anglers who don't agree with the rules and so ignore them.

"Marcus Bailey, manager of the Headfen Lakes fishery in Little Downham, said he had seen a group fishing with a net stretched from one side of the River Ouse to the other last week.

He said: "I see it going on, just last week I saw a group on the Ouse between Ely and Soham, who were using a net on both sides of the river to catch fish.

"It is unbelievable. Until I saw them with a net myself I could not believe it was happening, but I realised they are living by the river in tents and they must be feeding themselves by catching fish to supplement their diet."

So serious poachers are camping out, with substantial nets, and Mr Bailey hasn't got the brains to phone the police or EA and get it investigated? What does this tell us about Mr Bailey?

"Eastern Europeans are also causing problems at Grafham Water, with some estimates suggesting several are caught fishing for carp for the dinner plate every week.

However, David Moore, Grafham recreation manager, denied the problem was so severe, as Grafham mainly stocks trout, and said Eastern Europeans were most interested in carp, which they consider a delicacy." (my emphasis)

" some estimates suggesting several are caught fishing for carp for the dinner plate every week" , itself denied by a Grafham manager. So where does that leave us? One bloke catching carp for food once per week? Two? One bloke catching two carp? But wait! They're caught !! With dead carp in their tucker bags, to boot. If they're caught, why do we have disputed estimates here?

What a crock

Bleeding heart liberal pinko, with bacon on top.

but the EA doesn't want its officers out at night as it isn't safe for them !

they're under playing the whole situation, fact is the goverment as allowed these imigrants into the country and just left them to get on with it ,and instead of wasting millions on stupid things they could of use a bit of that money to give the imigrants instructional cultral infomation on common laws and customs of this country.its not just the fish its motoring laws aswell plus other things.

i have no problems with immigrants being in this country ,(its never been the same since those pesky romans came here) like most modern countrys britain as always seen immigrants throughout the millenia some come as freindly workers, others forced to come and some came by force.and all have integrated sooner or later.

The worst thing to come out of these threads, is that when people have a reason to criticise any group for blatantly disregarding the law, these criticisms are concieved as being xenophobic or racist. I would have exactly the same opinion towards british whites who didnt hold licences, go around stealing fish for the pot etc.

I for one know my opinions are based on experience, i have seen immigrants commiting the offences, but for some reason, their actions are justified because they have cultural differences?

Ultimately the problem will only get worse if people hide behind race issues, lets be realistic and accept the problem needs dealing with, and education will simply not solve it.

Now what part of that didn't you understand?????

What part of that is hiding behind race issues ?????

What attempted justification have I made for any cultural differences ????

Just asking because I'm interested :)
