Guest stevie cop

What happened last time you went to Colchester?

Nah, today was all wrong from the start. The inshore shipping forecast gave 3-4 increasing 5-6. BBC gave 1 mph winds! What do you do? I took my Dad and the old boy who lives over the road from me. When we got to the ramp, the wind was fresh, so I gave the inshore shipping forecast the benefit of the doubt and started fishing in the estuary. There were supposed to be a few Roker in the river, but we didn't see any.

After a couple of hours, the wind dropped so we ventured outside. By this time it was coming up to slack water, so we sat for over an hour waiting for some tide, and hopefully some fish. Just as the tide turned, the wind picked up again, only now it was against the tide! Old boy over the road started to feel unwell, so I took them back into the river. I know, I'm too soft!

Anyway, after another few fishless hours I decided to call it a day. Getting the boat back on the trailer was a nightmare due to a weekend speedboat merchant doing nice high speed turns all around the launching site and causing big waves to push the boat all over the place as we tried to get it back on the trailer. (I hate fishing at weekends!) Then my Dad decided to walk off the edge of the ramp and filled his waders up! There is more, but you get the picture!

Steve,

I get the picture, been there, done that, got the T shirt

I said "last time I was in colchester" but my memory fades with time

The last time I was in Colchester the UKMF (United Kingdom Mobile Force) was deployed to Denmark and a good laugh it was :D

The time before was about 1979 when I escorted a prisoner from RAF Halton there and met a rather inpolite Staff Sergeant from the Scots Guards

Who made comment about me WALKING across HIS parade square

Nice report mate, bet it feels great to be out and about AND having a good day to boot.

I had the same problem once while escorting a prisioner from Pompy, I told the RSM that was giving me stick that when he signed for the prisioner then he could double him across the parade ground with his kit bag, until then he was my responsibility END OF STORY  but thats another story :D
