The year of 2006 is turning out to be quite unusual i would say things are running at least 3 weeks late its now mid october and the sea temperature is still very high mackeral are still knee deep here and herring are still spawning in droves the cod fishing on the shore is taking its time to get going but will start with a bang shortly but we need some cooler temperatures for this to happen ,i can remember snow one year in october but some how i doubt it very much this year.

Never say never Paul. The weather could break anytime. It has been a strange old year. I remember those huge icicles on the cliff at Hawsker back in March, and in May waiting for all the rhodendrums to flower. It was mid to late June before we saw any. Constant northerly winds from feb to June then bang what a contrast - Heatwave. Things are late but who knows what could happen. Forecasts are saying it may be an average winter. But in relative terms average could mean colder than of recent times.

i'm not in a great rush to to sea winter set in , this mild spell's just fine for me . must admit though i did find it strange cathing mackerel yesterday in mid october , i think the latest i've had them was early oct until now.

Just seen the forcast this morning and the bbc said this deep low moving north was pulling cold air into scotland and snow was possible in the far north winters now by the look of things.

My tomatoes are still ripening on the vine, catepillars are eating the cabbages and the cat was lying in the sun. If the wind would drop I'd go fishing!
