I suspect that's true of most people in the public eye. I remember meeting Jasper Carrot with a girlfriend in a restaurant. She was gushing and I could see the look of relief as I lead her out saying "leave the man to eat".

I'm not sure what criteria should apply to any of those people being "accepted" here, but the flavour of their imaginary friend ought not be one of them. I never was likely to vote for Farage, but that comment has made sure that I never will.

I just Googled that, after seeing a cartoon showing Farage turning Jesus away because he was Jewish and not Christian and wondering what the hell it was about.

 

So it turns out that the reason for being willing to accept Syrian Christians is not that he only wants to let Christians in, but that Christians are being particularly persecuted. Which isn't quite how it was being spun.

Farage's statement that "Britain needs to stand up for its 'Judeo-Christian' values" was worrying. I understand that he was presenting his case to an American audience on Faux News but it was worrying enough to stop him getting my vote in the Euro elections.

 

Then again, Cameron has described his view of Britain as a “Christian country”, which is equally worrying.

 

Miliiband is just confused. He's an atheist of Jewish heritage who thinks that faith is important. That said, I can never forgive the Labour party for it's massive expansion of state funded faith schools under (then closet) god botherer Blair.

 

BTW Cory, I do believe in getting out of Europe for a whole host of reasons but I've said many times that there are plenty of things not to like about Farage and UKIP. I just thought that as you are intent on trying to bash them, I'd take the opportunity to balance the thread a little.
