Pike and zander fish-in

Anderoo

I fished the Middle Level on Sunday. Beautiful conditions after a mildish night. Tried worm, maggot, sweetcorn and cockles. Did not have the faintest hint of a bite. Normally pestered by perch with worms, but not a thing. Nothing topping either.

And you're right, we must have the best bailiffs - especially Les.

Well, it's funny how things work out eh! B)

We'll see how things are fishing in Feb/March and pick a suitable venue, it needn't be the Level.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

I had an early morning session on the Middle Level on the Friday. My intention was to walk a good few miles away from where I'd parked the car, then wobble a deadbait back for Pike or demented Zander. But having forgotten to buy deadbaits at Specialist Angling when I’d shopped there on the Saturday, I first had to catch some bait. After three biteless hours, and with my left ear aching and ready to drop off from the relentless icy wind and driving light rain I gave up! Note to self: Remember to buy all baits needed/bring shelter for fishing open areas of the Fens.

I’d previously fished both the Little Ouse and Wissey on the Wednesday, and although weather conditions were just as poor (sudden cold snap with freezing temps overnight, bright sunny days, and slow paced clear waters), I did manage an enjoyable (often ‘fish-a-chuck’) trotting session on the Wissey in Hilgay for some tiny Perch (to maggot), Roach (to maggot, bread flake, or elderberry), and eventually Dace (to maggot). I’d tried the whole KLAA fishable section of the Little Ouse with no luck, but that could just as easily be due to my complete lack of skill as the adverse weather conditions.

Bravo to KLAA’s bailiffs. If you only ever see one other angler on the bank there, chances are he’s a bailiff! Very helpful chaps too, a mine of useful information.

perch on the mooring stretch of the wisseys its ridiculous, wThere are so many ent there about 10 days ago with some red worm and every trot down was a perch of about 1/2lb-1lb, with a nice couple of skimmers to a 1 1/2lb thrown in. But the pike were boiling every few mins! specially when someone was bringing in small roach.. Yet they didnt want to take my lures.

Let's have another go at this.

I need to get definite confirmation that we can get half price season tickets in Feb and March (so that we can night fish). I have every year recently, but I want to be sure. It should be fine, but I'll let you know. That will be £18.

Dates: what about Fri 27 February - Sun 1 March. Two nights, but come and go as you please.

Location: a fenland drain, TBD, based on where's fishing the best. It'll be somewhere around King's Lynn/Downham Market, Norfolk, probably either the Middle Level or the Cut-off Channel.

Could those who signed up previously please let me know if you're still interested, and anyone else who wants to come a-zandering post up a reply :)

Hopefully it won't be too cold by then...

(A friend of mine has had some very good piking recently, so even if the zander prove elusive, we should get some decent piking action!)

Think it would be feasable to combine the Zander Fish In with the Pike teach In Anderoo? Those who missed out on the Pike teach in as I couldnt get the vennue sorted could turn up in the day and I could do some on the bank instruction for those wanting it? They could then Zed fish that night or just camp then pike fish the next day? what do you think?

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!
