BTW That Red Mullet is a Striped Red Mullet ( Mullus surmuletus )

 

Look at the pattern on the dorsal fin

 

That means you still have a chance at catching a "real" Red Mullet ( Mullus barbatus ) to add to your species list .

 

Red Mullet lack that fin pattern and are a uniform pink colour.

 

An interesting point is that Striped Red Mullet are usually (not always) found over broken ground (French name Rouget de Roche) whilst Red Mullet are usually found over muddy bottoms (French name Rouget de Vase)

 

Similarly, in Spanish - Salmonete de Roca and Salmonete de Fango respectively.
