NFFO slams Seafish appointments

I would like to ask a question.

Do you think that the outrageous amount of taxpayers’ money spent on the tiny commercial fishing industry is for the benefit of the few fishermen taking part in it, or for the benefit of the massive numbers of bureaucrats in the grossly overstaffed departments overseeing the management of this tiny industry?

I suppose the answers will vary, depending on whether you are a “commercial-basher” or not.

There is no supposing from my point of view, the sooner that lot is shunted sideways the better, i'm not talking about our fish and chip shop suppliers niether. Vote labour and be mugged.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

A friend of mine summed it up perfectly the other day when he said the "Where the f*ck are the fish?" industry is far bigger than the actual fishing industry.

If you take the annual budget of my local SFC and divide between the number of registered boats in the district, it amounts to approximately £7,000 per boat. That's £7,000 of tax payers money per commercial fishing boat that could be spent on something else, like hospitals, crime, education, etc. When you take the amount of money that the fisheries department of DEFRA eats up each year, and divide that between the number of registered commercial fishing boats in the UK, the amount of tax payers money spent per commercial fishing boat gets even more obscene. I can't think of any other self employed people who get that much public money spent on them. Maybe there are other examples and someone might be able to point out what they are, but I can't think of any right now.

Hi Steve

£6,999 of that £7,000 you quoted goes to pay for the incessant demands of anglers and greens, you know those goody two shoes people that want zoning and marine parks and all that sort of junk, watched Attinbrough to much, well all that paper work costs the SFC MONEY, LOADS OF IT.

That leaves £1 for policing the fisheries and thats why I have not had my fish checked for mls in the last DECADE, you anglers cannot have your cake and EAT IT

Oh you forgot the reg-assembles, not that it was voted on but they take 7% of your tax as well

I think it's admirable that in the midst of all this doom and gloom that you are still able to have a laugh, and post jokes on the forum so that we can all have a laugh too. Well done mate, and keep smiling.

Guest challenge

How much does anybody think that the British fishing industry is worth? If you where an outside party and wanted to buy all the boats and quota up at today’s prices?

Just want to see what exactly someone considers to be a tin pot industry?
