travel rods

can any one advice on a good all round travel rod,should it be telescopic ,would be doing river and stillwater fishing..........thanks

Check out the thread 'traval rod' by hmph, the Shimano Antares gets a good plug in there (haven't used that one myself so cannot advise....)

Have a browse through the Shimano catalogue. They do so many nowadays it's unreal. No matter the budget of method, they have a travel rod for it.

I bought the shimano S.T.C. Exage spinning rod. It has the option of 2.4 or 2.7 meters in one rod. Believe me this rod is brilliant. the biggest fish i caught with this is a 17lb carp.I got it on the bank without a problem

It comes with a hard carry case and the go for around 43 pound sterling

I've just landed a 24.5lb Mahseer on the Ocean Master rod from BassPro. In almost every respect, this rod gets a huge thumbs up as a lure rod.

would avoid telescopics, i have had too many smashed by fish (seriously!). i'd recommend the daiwa exceller rods. i've also had a play with a nielsen rod and was very impressed, they're causing quite a stir in game circles.

I've said it before - for a travel rod you'd struggle to beat a Rhino telescopic from Browning - carbon, definitely a struggle to snap, and frankly underpriced compared to other uk models.
