Appears to be supermarket fuel and yep Tesco's were apparently having an urgent meeting about it, so the BBC said earlier. I'm sure it'll be on the news in a few mins.

Rob.

Looks like it's mainly the south east, that's effected.

the chap incharge of something or other made the remark he thinks its the first time this sort of thing happened ,i can remember a top fuel chain selling an "improved" petrol that also had "side effects" in engines.

strangely i think wherever i buy fuel for the espace its contaminated either that or its permenantly on "limp home" mode :D

some of the quotes for fixing the engine (£800 in one instance) is rediculous its a matter in most cases of unscrewing it from the manifold and screwing in a new one .i think the sensor just tells the ECU how much oxygen is in the exaust gas so it can adjust the mix to suite the conditions. i expect the scrappies are being emptied at this very moment

Well it does mention Renaults chesters, but nothing about Honda 90s.

I'm keeping my eye on this one. I always fill up at Morrisons, and about a fortnight ago my Mondeo started spluttering, jumping a bit, and was slow to pull off. I put it down to a blockage, and have given it the Redex treatment. It's a bit better, but not like it was before.

So what's new, are we all going to finally cotton on to what has been going on......

I usually fill up my cars at the same old local petrol station, I might pay a few pence more but my local Tesco 'cheap fuel' garage is like a lifetime away, (well about 4 miles, but hell, that's a 8 mile return journey and who wishes that on themselves).

Twice now, whilst adventuring into the distant lands of the East Wight, I have found myself in the vicinity of the Tesco and purchased 20 shillings worth of petroleum distillate there for my horseless carriage.

On both occasions said horseless carriage has made funny noises and refused to start for several months until the 20/- were all gone and I refilled at my 'local' station.

I mentioned this to the owner one day and was told that it was "not a matter of what they take out, but what they put in......"

Different Petrol Companies add different 'additives' to the basic product as it comes from the refinery.

In my mind, Tesco's are a bit like Communism, we all knew they were around and 'put up' with them for a while but in the end the Government's got the idea they were getting too powerful and decided to start telling 'US' how bad they were for 'US'.

Try getting planning permission to put up a wooden shed in a field and then wonder how a 'Major' Chain can get permission to put up a fecking great superstore in the same area.

is it because your bribe to the council is too small.

our local (5miles away) sainsbury uses BP which makes it strange the BP garage 4 hundred yards away from sainsbury is 3p a litre dearer

anyway why a car ? the iow doesent have roads does it?

according to the news, reports are coming in from as far north as Bradford although they could have filled up in the south and got that far before the car died
