Wingham Fish-In

Recommended Posts

After last year's fabulous fishing (click on the link in my signature for details) I expect a lot of you will want to come to this year's Wingham Fish-In. Mind you I expected more for last year's event, especially as many Forum members wanted to meet Jan and Newt!

It's been suggested that some didn't book a place as I'd said that there may have had to be 2 sittings for the 3 day event, with a changeover half way through at Sunday lunchtime. The idea of course was to enable as many of you to attend as possible, even if you could fish for only half the time and socialise the rest. In the event I was only just fully-booked.

I'm not sure what would be best for this year, and so I'm asking members - after all it's your event.

Do you want just 1 sitting, with the likelyhood that I couldn't accomodate you all?

Or would you prefer 2 sittings plus extra social events such as talks and demos, and more people being able to attend?

I'm open to all suggestions, apart from changing the date or times which are 9am Saturday May 19th to sometime on Monday May 21st.

Steve - we have quite a few new members who may not be familiar with your fishery or the annual event you hold for forum members. A link to details or posting them here would probably be a good idea.

I think you should do whatever is easiest for you. I am amazed that you are still able to move after these fish-ins as you all do so much and ask very little in return.

Just an idea but couldn't you limit people to 2 rods enabling a few more places without any extra disturbance?

I think that 2 sittings would put alot of people off and create so much work for you all. Just imagine the amount of kit that would need transporting around the lake.

Why dont you save a few places for people who can come down and help out for a couple of days in the previous week to make it a little easier for you and then give the rest of the places to those that haven't fished there before? Then if there are any places left over you can offer them to those that get there name down first.

i (we ) cant even plan a week in advance ,bills going out ,money coming in (and making sure what goes out is covered by what comes in),my mrs and her "condition" and subsequent trips to hospital and a whole host of other incidentals that could crop up ,we (i) may be able to attend but just can't plan that far in advance :(
