Carrying A Knife

Bottom line....if you want to be totally legal then you need a 3" or smaller folding knife that is not a lock knife. A 4" lock knife in a public place is not legal for a course fisherman. Not much chance of getting caught though unless you fish canals in London and need to defend yourself with your illegal knife fighting off junkies.

Can I throw a spanner in the works and ask what a Coarse Fisherman needs a knife for? Cutting line can be done (very neatly) with nail clippers. I personally can see no reason for me to carry a knife whilst fishing, but maybe I'm missing something.

Enlighten me please?

I use a simple folding penknife for cutting baits, i.e. cheese, luncheon meat etc., shaving boilies, cutting off funnel web tubing, cutting reedstems for floater fishing, cleaning out my pipe, probably many other uses too boring and done so automatically that I can't think of them right now. The blade in mine is actually 3.5 inches long but I've owned it since before they changed the law and I don't ever wave it at people so no-one will ever really know it's illegal. (Apart from you lot now)

The sharp folding knife in my tackle bag is used to trim bankside vegetation so that my line and bobbins don't tangle in it. The blunt fixed one is for digging around when I am looking for worms.

And, before the usual smarta-s start moaning, I don't lay waste to the bankside vegetation.

Flame thrower! :clap2:

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

I have a mate who takes a machette on our night fishing trips he says its to clear a space for his bivy. As a kid I liked to do daft things like prodding wasp nets with sticks and I have wondered what might happen if I prodded his bivy in the night with a stick. Think I will find a very long stick first. :o

I own a small pocket knife and a vegetable knife witha 5inch blade (only 1 me mom would let me have). I use the pocket knife for cutting lines etc. and use the vegatable knife for cutting deadbaits and cutting back vegetation, reeds etc.

And my pool has regular vistits from the police as its a dodgy area, and a few times a copper has come down to have a chat and saw the knife and asked wat its for and ive told the and they did'nt sem to care. Preety suprised as im only 16, suprised they did'nt lock me up due to the reputation kids in my area has.

PS. i would'nt use my knife for protection have me alsatian BEN, and if they get past him ive got me trusty banksticks :D
