I'm not sure its just the muslims who won't integrate. Look at some of the doss holes us Brits have created in Spain for example, are they any different to the 'mini pakistans' we see dotted around the UK?

 

Another thing, have you ever considered that part of the reason asians don't integrate is because our prejudice helps to prevent it?

And what about all this bo**ocks about apologising for the slave trade.

If it wasn't for the slave trade they would still be back in Africa eating each other, those that lived long enough.

It's us whites that are due the apology.

 

Interestingly, some of the worst and most persistent slavers were the Barbary Coast pirates (from Morocco, Algiers and Tunis). Not so much tends to be broadcast about them - whether it's because they were Moslems who specifically targetted Non-Moslems, I don't know...

Valid point Dave, The Berber Arabs in Mauritania still maintain a system of chattel slavery today that was started 800yrs ago. The latest estimate is 1m black africans held by the Berbers as inheritable goods, oddly the Berber arabs are refferred to as white men by the Africans. In the Sudan islamic slavery is alive & well & a thriving goverment venture!

 

You would think our crusading anti slavery heroes would have plenty of modern evils to go at rather than rail at the west for apologies for evils past that we were instrumental in abolishing. Perhaps Islamic slavery isn't quite as soft a touch as 'Christian' slavery, or maybe it isn't as PC fashionable to critiscise.

 

As for targetting non Muslims the Koran stated that muslims cannot be enslaved by muslims, though it would appear they made an exception for the Sudanese whose slaves are also muslim.

if anyone rotates their satellite dish to 13deg east then youl see those that demand we follow sharia law have just the same taste in non veiled women (ok completely naked) as we do ,theres 10's of arab speaking chatlines and soft porn sites ,another case of do as we say not do as we do.

the taliban spouted hate of the west and western ways yet excepted western money and weopons and cars etc with no qualms at all.

everyone on earth knows that saudi arabia produced most of the 11/9 bombers and pakistan trains hides and funds the taliban yet are considered friends mbeats me how that works unless you include oil in the equation.

I didn't bother evening clicking on it I'm afraid. This country is sad and depressing PERIOD, and the lack of ethnic integration is but one small part of the problem.

 

I didn't say they are not prejudiced and I didn't say it was all our fault either but I did expect you to ignore what I ACTUALLY said and comment on what you'd like to THINK I said. Nothing new there

 

......my missus as you know is a pakistani muslim and she can't stand the illegals or some of the general trouble making types. Send em all back is her opinion and her mums.......she gets really angry about it all. She is not the only muslim to feel this way either. You just seem happy to stereotype Ant.

 

People do make me laugh though at times..........let me run a TRUE scenario by you. A fellah I know is being terrorised by the local youths, most of whom hang around this two bit slapper who lives next door to him. She's about 14 but is out till all hours, takes drugs, gets p*** and lord knows what else. He got his shed burgled and all his power tools pinched while he was on holiday and now they keep taking the p*** and calling him bob the builder with no tools. Now their next door neighbours have a for sale board on the garden and an asian family viewed it this week. His comment was 'looks like we are gonna get f****** pakis next door'. I looked at him and laughed.......he's so dumb he couldnt understand that I was laughing at the fact he couldnt see past his own bigotry and stupidity.

 

Actually, you just got me thinking about integration and diversity and thought about our little cul de sac.................8 houses........

 

house 1 single bloke who is gay

house 2 elderly retired botany professor

house 3 jewish lady charity worker

house 4 us

house 5 single sri lankan fellah

house 6 white bloke, sikh wife and their kids

house 7 jewish couple (both deaf) and their kids

house 8 60ish year old bloke and his nigerian wife (mid 30's perhaps) and baby moved out 3 months ago and now single bloke moved in.

 

100% true......never really thought about it before till your post made me think about where I livet. BEAT THAT for integration!!!

Phil - I'd venture a guess that what you have in your neighborhood is more harmonization than integration.

 

I think that is more realistic and probably an overall better idea. Most of the talk of 'integration' I hear or read seems aimed at turning a very flavorful mix of people and ideas into some sort of bland and featureless stew. That will be a very sad thing if it ever actually happens.

 

"Live and let live", seems like a good mantra to me.
