Wingham Fish-in Report

Seph, you are so cruel!

:bigemo_harabe_net-163::bigemo_harabe_net-163::bigemo_harabe_net-163:

Reminds me of one of the late Dick Emery's characters (I've forgotten her name) who'd say "You are awful, but I do like you!"

Elton's been very unlucky with the weather. Most times he's come to Wingham it hasn't been good for fishing. Typically as soon as he goes we get the mini-heatwave we could have done with for the Fish-In.

Result? Another 40lb carp, a mirror this time!

It's been a long time since I first came across a certain Mr Capper on the Barbel Fishing World forum, I seem to remember he was very much a traditionalist at the time so it brought a smile to my face to see him bivvied up in my swim with alarms blaring sixteen to the dozen! They must have known I was coming is all I can say....... seriously though, well done Richard you bagged up and that's not easy at Wingham - hat's off!

Hahahaha I remember! Its a real shame I've slowly slide down the slope to the darkside! Seriously though do you remember the argument about baitrunners? I brought some this year, mostly as I wanted some reels with line clips which my trusty Mitchell 300s don't have. I have to say I don't like them to much due to the amount of line twist I'm getting. I brought my centrepin to Wingham but I didn't have a chance to use it as all the fish were 60 yards out, none under your tree :(!

Its easy catching fish when there are tons in front of you, a better angler would have caught far more than I did! As for a new lake record and those tench in a harder swim..... well done mate!

Rich

p.s. its Dr Capper if you please :P:rolleyes:

Thanks for all the photos including some great scenic shots. I was particularly impressed with Jedibond's dawn one. Any chance of a print for the photoboard, Ian?

First I got the blame, then Newt, but now we begin to see the real pattern that emerges ;)

Now that really is cruel Steve! :)

Now it's all over I'd like to commiserate with those who were pegged in the wrong area. Hopefully in the future it'll be like last year when the fish were evenly spread.

Congratulations must go in particular to Rob Ward, and of course Richard Capper.

After doing so well in the past I put Rob in a notoriously difficult swim in the "Eggbox". From this he still extracted 4 tench, including his 9-14 lake record! He may even had beaten the male tench record with the 8-04. I'm certainly looking forward to seeing the pic.

Richard! Well, what can I say! This is the best catch in the history of the Coarse Lake. OK, we've had bigger catches of tench, but they've never included 2 monster bream. As I posted before, no one had ever got bream in successive nights from Wingham before. Not only did Richard make excellent use of the swim, he stopped the fish wandering next door to Anderoo!

Rob & Richard, I'd love to have prints for the photo board, and with your permission put the pics on the Wingham web site.

After doing so well in the past I put Rob in a notoriously difficult swim in the "Eggbox". From this he still extracted 4 tench, including his 9-13 lake record! He may even had beaten the male tench record with the 8-04. I'm certainly looking forward to seeing the pic.

Steve I'll email/send you all the digital photos including the tails of the bream. Do you have access to a decent photoquality printer i don't really though i could go to boots...? Any idea about the rough pine cone effect the scales of one bream but not the other? You can clearly see the difference in the tail pics of the bream i'll post them later tonight.

Yep, we've got a decent enough printer, Rich. In view of the large number of pics(!) a CD of the uncompressed files would be better. Thanks.

Im not sure about the "pine cone" effect. It's not something I've noticed before. I assume it's just because this male fish was in pre-spawn livery.

No problem Steve, I'llget it done at work as the printers are much better here. I'll also email it to you as well, not bad for a mobile phone pic I thought !
