Knots...

Hi guys, which knots do you use for attaching a hooklink swivel to your mainline? I am using 15lb mono attached to 12lb sinking braid hooklink. What in your extensive experience works best...?

Cheers..

In my extensive ( ) knowledge I'd suggest a half blood knot for mono to swivel, and a grinner for braid to swivel. I've literally never had either come undone. I would use the grinner for everything, but it crinkles mono up something terrible.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

Cheers, I use the grinner for attaching the braid to the swivel, but like you I find mono turns into a frazzled line if I use the same. I'll have to look up a half blood knot...

It's a nice easy one - when tying it take your time and moisten it with spit before gently tightening it. If you tighten it dry and/or too quickly it heats up and weakens the line. I use this one for tying mono to hooks too.

Going to have to disagree with the previous posters.

The blood knot is a strangulation knot and is consequently one of the worst knots to use on mono.

Palomar knot is easy, ultra reliable and by far the best knot to use with any mono.

Grinner knot is good too, and if tied carefully will not cause any problems.

What does that mean "strangulation"...?

I use the grinner for nearly everything! Never had a problem with it.

Polamar knot every time.
