Here you go, also known as Gurnet in Kent and some parts of south London.

Rock salmon

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rock Salmon is the flesh of the dogfish, wolffish or catfish, also known as hass/huss. Renamed by marketeers to make the fish more appealing to consumers.

Fishing seems to be my favorite form of loafing.

I know the joy of fishes in the river through my own joy, as I go walking along the same river.

What do you think if the float does not dip, try again I think.

Hi Mike,

I always thought that woofers were a bit doggy :D but had my mind changed recently, skin and remove cartilage chop into decent scampi size pieces dip in good batter and deep fry for a few minutes and then it is a meal worth having. :clap2::clap2:

I fish, I catches a few, I lose a few, BUT I enjoys. Anglers Trust PM

I have always thought of huss as dogfish, but it can refer to bull huss and spurdog, as well. Fresh huss is a superbly flavoured fish, but the flesh turns grey much quicker than other fish, thats when the flavour suffers.

The absence of bones, apart from the central cartilage, also makes it an easy fish to eat.

I have taken both dog fish and bull huss home before and would say that it is good eating if you have the time to prepare it correctly. Lovely grub.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Unfortunately David was probably eating one of the fish we are trying to get listed as endangered.

viz;

Previously used for the liver oil Spiny Dogfish are now primarily caught for their

meat which is sold as ‘rock salmon’ in restaurants and fish and chip shops.

Hi Norm B i havent seen a spurdog on the south coast for donkey's years. I would have a job recognising one unless it jabbed me in the hand.

You don't hear many people refer to the Spurdog, as the Spiny Dogfish nowadays.

Spurdog usually benefits from soaking overnight, to get rid of the ammonia/acidy tang to the flesh.
