are they a bit simple you can make alcohol from over the counter sugar or a whole host of plant extracts and fruit ,i am sure the abbos know exactly where and when to gather it and although not great most fruit has enough wild yeast on them to start fermentation so why the expensive products to do it?

as for a better yield of alcohol i am sure they can put together bits of copper pipe and a milk churn to distil the raw product.

 

just as its impossible to ban everything you can buy over the counter to make a bomb trying to ban everything you can but to make grog is also impossible

If it's happening, they are clearly clueless about brewing. The autolysed yeast in vegemite will provide the nutrients that yeast needs but a kilo of commercial nutrient without all of the associated taste issues can be had for about £13 in the UK making it much, much cheaper than vegemite.

Ribena would be OK as a mixer but it makes a bad ingredient because it's stuffed full of preservatives that will kill yeast.

If I were doing it, I'd get myself a cane press, extract the sugary sap, add nutrient and some yeast and let it go. It should come out at about 7% alcohol after a week. Add a little Ribena for taste at the end and you're good to go.

Alternatively, run the whole lot through an improvised still and you have a basic white rum.

a boomerang maybe overkill on the mice but chasing a few thousand over a cliff for one or two bison worked for north american indians a flock of mice could result in a gay old time come saturday night at ayers rock

True enough but then, you can't legally run a simple still in the UK for personal consumption - fortunately, you cam import one from China at a reasonable cost.....

In our case, and maybe Oz's case too skin color is an indication of a biological difference that changes the way alcohol is assimilated (sp?).

 

Skin color is not the primary issue.
