Nice video very informative but the cheapness of similar lures make it only for the traditional angler ,thats what the close season is for ,its what kept anglers sane in the old days

You need to make a few balsa albeit classed as a hard wood is pretty rubbish when it comes to knocks and teeth ,dipping in fiberglass resin would make it far longer lasting

It must give great satisfaction making your own lure and then going on to catch with it. However, if I had that much spare time to make them then I would rather spend it actually going fishing.

Spotted a continuity error. At 8:30 during the summary he offers up the hook retaining wire which presumably is sandwiched between the two halves of the lure. Earlier on when he’s sanding the lure to its finished shape there’s no sign of the wire rings. What have I missed?

It's incomplete, I think he shapes it and then splits it and glues it back together. He did say that more detailed videos were coming, I will post them when I see them!

Yes, maybe an out of season activity? Or just "because I can". I do get a lot of satisfaction catching trout on my own flies, but it takes me minutes to tie them.

I was talking to a guy in the car park at Rutland a few years ago, he was a piker who made his own lures. He showed me some of his creations and they looked amazing, the level of care and detail was really impressive. When I asked whether he caught on them he said 'I daren't use them, think of the teeth marks!' :D
