During a local menengitis scare a few years back, my elder daughter seemed to have a few of the symptoms, so we whipped her down the hospital.

They took her straight in, and soon there was a whole gaggle of doctors around her bed.

Apparently she was the nearest to a classic case that had presented following the publicity of another three local cases.

Quite a frightening time, so I'm thinking of you and your sparrow Ken, and feeling a little of what you are probably going through now.

Fortunately, in my daughter's case, she was given the all clear and we were able to take her home the next day, to nurse her at home.

I hope that things turn out as well for you.

Thanks everyone for all your support, I am not use to being in a situation which I cannot help sort out, comes as a bit of a shock when you find out there are something your bloody usleless at and can do nothing to solve it. I would gladly change places with him, I always wanted to protect him and this time I can't.

Bets regards to everyone Ken

Ken, I can't imagine what you are feeling but I know how helpless one can feel when someone you love more than life itself is struggling. Newt and I will be thinking of you and we send best wishes your way. He'll be out there fishing with you before you know it.

Ken, I really don't know what to say at such a difficult time, and I suspect that there are many more members out there who wish you well but can't find the words. I can't even begin to imagine what you and your family must be going through.

All of our thoughts and good wishes are with you and your precious "little sparrow" at this terribly worrying time.

As Judy quite rightly said though, kiddies are very resilient. Give the little buggers a chance and they'll fight back.

Stay strong for your little sparrow. He's still waiting for that first fishing trip, and we are waiting to find out how he does.
