Chesters1 top tip ,car seatbelts make excellent straps i use them for belts etc ,the 50mm catches and tighten ers fit exactly

Found usually in cars both running and scrapped

In the case of restrains put a hook on each end similar to those on lorry straps

Guess it depends on the layout of the vehicle, Newt. A UK van isn't like a US van, it's a commercial vehicle designed for carrying goods, usually just two seats and a separated cargo area. Having said that, I think I'd also want it secure enough to stay put in a crash!

Thanks for all the help.

At a guess, if it still has enough energy after breaking two 800kg straps to get through the steel bulkhead there ain't going to be much left of me up front anyway.

So, now, having successfully buried me, I'll wish you all a fond goodbye in advance, try and say something nice about me at my funeral.;)

Ah Steve - here that would be a "cargo van" as opposed to a passenger van or a camper van (small caravan).

Ayjay - I think you are right. Breaking two of those straps would take a really major crash that would probably turn the occupants into jelly.
