Not fished since I've been here, I'm about 1/2 a mile from the Wharfe and walk the banks from time to time but never fish it. Keep meaning to, but snapped my Avon rod moving house, so I need to sort a replacement out before I can.

I know of a couple tackle shops in and around Harrogate if you need any pointers. Don't want to be going to Orvis on the high street. I about choked when I saw the price of their flies  Not to mention the cordiality.

I went up to Stonebridge fishing lakes last weekend and didn't get a sniff. Let me know if you want to go anytime. I know a few good places on the Ure for pike.

10 mins of very fine grainy stuff and a minute of small flakes and that was it ,fed the semi tame field mouse and filled the bird feeders just in case.

its been cold all day but pond is ice free.

we had to move one feeder as the mouse used to get inside by walking along a branch into the gutter and down the feeders hanging string ,now when i fill them i put a handfull by its hole ,i dont mind them outside but theres death on strong springs and blue pellets should any venture into the sheds or loft :D

it (the mouse) lived in one bird box whilst another had bees in it through the summer so we've put up 3 extra for the birds (aaahhh)

Same as Steve and Cranfield in the Stour Valley. I arrived at the lake just as it started.

Hazel goodwife phoned, all excited..."it's snowing, Barney and I are going for a walk"......... she's mad...:)

I set up the brolley double quick, chucked a half herring out.. hoping to "catch a pike in the snow"

Did catch, but only after the snow had stopped.

Right you are. She is mad for taking the dog out into the snow and then returning back to a warm house.

You, on the other hand, are perfectly sane for taking your rods out into the snow, setting up to catch a fish you don't plan to eat, and going back into a cold, small tent to wait for said fish.

:D :D It is no wonder that non-anglers are convinced we are all stark, raving mad.
