Fishing in Jordan and Lebanon, anyone been?

I'm off on a little Middle Eastern adventure next week, spenidng time in Israel, Jordan and Lebanon, I know the fishing in Israel pretty well, but have never been to the other two places, I know it's a long shot, but has anyone been and got any information they'd like to share?

Stick of rock? You've got a cheek, if I remember rightly, you still owe me a pint! :) :)

 

I'll be taking my tin hat and flak jacket, but probably won't have time for any charters, if I get a couple of hours on some rocks or a river bank somewhere I'll be happy

Jordan is a cool place mate, or at least Aqaba was about 20 years ago when I was last there. If you go south down the coast a bit away from the tourist beaches you can fish off the rocks, but the water is deep in some places (50 yds out, 900ft). Safe to swim in the water despite it being in the Red Sea. I've never once seen any kind of shark in the Gulf of Aqaba. If you can get a chance visit Petra. You can drink in Jordan, Amstel used to have a brewery in Amman, leave the arak alone, unless you enjoy having the DTs. Jordanians are a freindly folk. I had 6 weeks in Aqaba and loved it.
