Do you agree with the new ban?

  1. 1. Smoking or Non-smoking? If the pubs / clubs and bingo hall managers had the choice of Smoking or Non-Smoking for their estasblishment , what would the majority vote be?

    • Smoking allowed
      2
    • No Smoking allowed

No. I simply use the correct amount. Try it.

While you're sorting out your punctuation, look up the definition of 'pedant'. You'll think you're reading your biography.

I've tried my best to refrain from posting on this thread but feel impelled to join back in.

Wordbender , talking down to people over your glasses won't help the atmosphere. It's rather rude.

I think that we have to surrender to the ban , it's been put in place , AND FOR NOW , will stand firm.

Ok then , heres an honest question for the antis (well 2 actually) , please answer the questions as honestly as you can

1. Is the 'smoking in public places ban' enough , or would you prefer an outright ban?

2. Do you think that the ban in question could have been implemented with a better revision , and foresight to smokers?

(ie , fully designated smoking and non-smoking pubs)

These questions are directed to the anti-smoking posters on here.

Please be as honest as you can (swallow your pride) and type your HONEST feelings , esp. to question 2

First, the initial rudeness in the exchanges between us came from you, Mororola, I merely responded. Kleinboet has also used his share of impolite terms, so I'll thank you not to lecture me on manners. Now to your questions.

1. Ideally, I'd like every decent person in the world to rid their lives of smoking, because it kills too many of them, but the ban in public places is plenty good enough for me.

2. If you read this thread, you'd see that I've twice stated that 'smoking' and 'non-smoking' pubs seemed to me to be the best way forward.

I trust those answers are 'honest' enough for you.

It has been answered exhaustively throughout this long long thread. Try reading and you'll find the answers.

I have read every post and all i can say to you Nick is that you only wish to see and answer what suites you.

The question i have asked has not even been addressed let alone answered as you say exhaustively.

Should you wish to have an attempt at an answer i would gladly reiterate the question for you.

Fishing seems to be my favorite form of loafing.

"Even a bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work."

I know the joy of fishes in the river through my own joy, as I go walking along the same river.

What do you think if the float does not dip, try again I think.

Could use that argument for almost anything that is 'not good for us'. Regarding smoking the goverment has been ott as usual in this instance and not given all of the population a choice, so they must be and this law considered, draconian.

One point i made a time ago on this topic, my skipper mate can't smoke in his cabin that he paid 150k for,is that fair? Even if he had a boat load of smokers aboard he still could not do it according to the law as one of his paying angler's could grass him up, draconian i recon.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Kleinboet, you may have missed my earlier question about your wife's smoking, but I'm asking it again because I'm genuinely concerned.

Does she smoke cannabis to relieve the pain from her MS, or is it plain cigarettes? If it's cannabis, that is proven to help MS patients. If it's cigarettes, there's a strong possibility that she could be speeding the worsening of her condition (see the research link in my original post on the subject).

DavyR - Thank you for your concern. Brenda is AFAIK the only person in Gloucestershire to have been prescribed SATIVEX on a named patient basis. As most of you are aware Sativex is a cannebeloid based pain relieving spray that is only available in Canada! The British government have however allowed it to be dispensed in this country on a named patient basis. It Works!!

As far as her smoking is concerned, her ilness is so far gone that in the opinion of the MS specialist, her smoking is NOT going to exacerbate her condition.

In the last 5 years, her condition has deteriorated from walking with a stick, to 2 sticks, to crutches and finaly to a wheelchair. She has also been registered Deaf/blind, the deaf section being added in the last year.

She can also no longer read braille as here hands have lost feeling!

So I feel smoking is all she has left really!

Coming back to Mr M's proposal. People cannot smoke until they are ADULTS! Surely adults, even in this nanny state, should have the RIGHT to choose!! You have the RIGHT to vote - smokers, no-smokers, criminal and law abiding! They are classed as adults and as such have the right to choose!

non-smokers have had that right taken away!!

I reitterate there should be a choice for smokers and non-smokers!!

I don't know - maybe they are scared that you will have two premises the same, one smoking, one non-smoking, adjacent to one another, only to find the smoking one full and the other one not so!!!

How embarrasing would that be! :whistling::whistling::whistling:

I can honestly agree with that sentiment Kleinboet. My immediate area has suffered greatly from the ban. I can't speak for other areas of the country but, the Pontefract / Wakefield area has definately felt the pinch. Also , during the summer months (what we had of it) i noticed a large increase in patio heaters in our customers back gardens. These things are beyond thought in my mind. Burning gas for no apparent reason other than keeping people warm outside. But the customers i asked (i didn't ask everyone) said "balls to the pub , i'll sit in my back yard and do as i like"

As already said , this is what is happening in MY area and not a general consensus of the rest of the country. Maybe it is only happening in my neck of the woods and i'm being irrationally paranoid.?? Hhhmmm

I better go for another CT scan and see if i actually have a brain................................... :P :P
