It does look like it's been in a few wars !! Deffo been abused. I think it needs a new foot fitting and a good cleaning up by a professional . I may well be wrong but it does look like it can be rescued !

I went mad last night and put an order in with Chris Lyth for one of his 1915 Avons........at the moment it 'll be 18 months down the line before it will be in my cuboard. You never know he might get a spurt on and manage it sooner.

Thanks! I try and beat at least one PB every season and despite some pretty good catches this was begining to look like the first season since 95/96 when I hadn't achieved it. So despite the fact the brownies were a bit of a menace on Monday (I was after roach and dace) beating my previous PB my 1½lb was pretty satisfying - especially on a float rod, centrepin (a Chris Lythe) and fairly fine tackle.....

I have been debating this over the last few days after having a chat with Chris. I haven't quite made up my mind which one but I think I will be ordering the same as you but with a lever check instead of the button. It won't be in the cupboard though when I eventually get it. Did he also tell you about the new anodising.

I haven't spoke to him i just orderd it online through his website. To be honest I like the colour of the 1915 Avon on his site. I hadn't thought about the check button / lever. Still 18 months leeves plenty of time to phone Chris and make small changes if need be.

Just done the deed and ordered a 1915 4'' Avon pattern 11/8 with lever check. It was a hard choice between the AJPand the 1915 but I think that the 1915 is probably more versatile.
