Hi i have just popped over from the coarse fishing forum where i usually live to see what you sea fearing types are making of the angling charter. there is a lot in it about sea fishing for example....

"A recent study of the sea fishing industry in England and Wales showed that recreational angling is worth £538 million a year (nearly as much as the commercial fleet at £600m). Further studies by the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit (P.M.S.U.) indicated that Britain’s 1.1 million sea anglers contribute £1.3 billion to the economy every year."

Overall i approve of the charter and hope the benefits to angling will materialise after the election whoever wins. I am interested in what you think of the overall tone of the charter.

take a look at my blog

I think the overall tone of the charter is that it is designed to be a vote winner. Angling is the biggest participation sport in the country. That's a lot of votes. It just remains to be seen what they actually do after the election, if they get in again. I seem to remember them promising me better public services on two previous occasions before elections. I'm still waiting to see the improvements, in fact i think that things have got worse. So I won't be holding my breath on this one.

I have sent an e-mail to Ben, I have asked for this charter to be part of their election mandate and give it full public debate.

If enough of us do the same at least it will catch their attention, only takes a couple of minutes to make a positive statement.

It is better than sitting here bemoaning our fate.

I fish, I catches a few, I lose a few, BUT I enjoys. Anglers Trust PM
