You're not triplets with very unimaginative parents, are you? :D

Maybe a family that took the same option as boxer George Foreman did. All 5 of his boys are named George Foreman.

The girls all have different names though.

But that's an American tradition isn't it Newt?

Goerge Forman the First, George Forman the Second etc. Wasn't George Forman a kitchen appliance salesman?

Phil (the 1st one!),

if your JW avon is getting a bit "tired", have you though about having it rebuilt?

The blanks on these rods are very good and hard wearing. The only thing that could ever have let it down were the rings and whippings. But that said, the rings on my own JW are still OK. I have however, re-whipped it (using the original eyes)with one less ring. This gave me the opportunity to move them a little bit to keep the streses away from the original places and to more suit my own style of fishing.

I also repaced the original handle (duplon) with cork and a screw reel fitting.

How about a strip down and rebuild with fuji SICs and a new handle? I's worth thinking about if you really like the rod and want to save the hassle of looking for and getting used to a new one.

Thats a pretty good idea, I do like the rod it's helped me catch and land some great fish (some of my biggest fish come to think of it).

Im keeping it, so I may aswell look into having it "restored", but another good rod wont hurt my bulging collection. :)

Do you know anywhere that would undertake the work? Ive never worked on a rod before and wouldnt want to mess it up.

Thanks

Because of the cost of postage probably the best place to start is your local tackle shop. Even if they don't offer the service themselves they'll probably know someone who does.

BTW, my advice is to forget SiC rings on such a rod. Yes, they're slightly lighter, but in practice you'd be hard pressed to notice the difference. They are however more prone to damage as they're more brittle than ali oxide rings. Good quality ali oxides (e.g Fuji, Seymo, Pacific Bay) are all you need - and are a whole lot less costly!

George Foreman (IS a kitchen appliance salesmen)

George Foreman the 2nd (son)

George Foreman the 3rd (grandson)

George Foreman the 4th (great grandson)

etc.

would be more the way it would usually go.

Having all 5 in the same generation and a daughter (also a professional boxer) with a middle name of George is more than a little strange.

We hadda do somethin since we ain't got us no Earl of This or Duke of That or any of those fancy titles.
