Election time again

Well, I found my deal breaker. Turns out that my local Tory MP was against Brexit and has since had to be slapped down by the PM for undermining the process. Looks like I may be voting UKIP.

Pointless all the time the party system is in place ,they get elected and they get the benefits without power ,they open their mouths and the party in power stops them .

If all mp's were independant they could vote for their constituants not what the party wants ,even if the whips are not involved they know fully to cross the party is not going to help their future

It would also stop people voting for a party and perhaps vote in the person with an interest to help the voter itself ,nothing to stop temporary alliences forming to get good laws across and the idea of an opposition goes out of the window ,half the time the opposition apposes good laws merely because they can .

It amuses me ukip and the greens are even mentioned they have no power to do anything and libdem mps not worth a light unless they suck up to another party.

An excellent smoke screen this brexit thing for another 5 years of dismantling the NHS can't see the woods for the trees comes to mind but never mind she has wimped out on a tv debate I wonder why so many failed policies and back-pedalling she would be torn to pieces when all comes to if she is as strong as she say she is she would breeze through no she just dare not risk it because she would end up on the ropes .

It's an interesting decision. She doesn't have anything to gain (or need it) from the debates, but not being there might lose her some votes. She probably also doesn't want to get sidetracked onto issues other than Brexit, because she knows that it's the one issue that will get defections from lifelong Labour voters. On the other hand, with the calibre of leaders she is up against it would be like being attacked by a flock of Healey's dead sheep.

Steve another 5 years in power is not just about brexit she is deceiving you as we speak if you wanted a hard brexit mark my words a lot to be watered down that's why she needs the people's mandate it's the will of the people !

Well that gave me a chortle!

I'd love to know how you came to the conclusion that UKIP are either fascist or extreme right wing.

She's not deceiving me, I don't trust any of them as far as I can throw John Prescott.

It's obvious why she's gone to the polls. With Labour so weak, she sees an opportunity to go to the polls and come back with a personal mandate as an "elected" PM (even though we don't elect PMs, there have been jibes from the opposite benches), a mandate for her party's vision of Brexit, a large enough majority to steamroller her plans through, the controversy over election spending put to bed and another five years. If Corbyn falls on his sword or gets knifed in the back, there is a risk of a new leader improving Labour's chances. So she's seized her moment. Corbyn is desperately trying to make the election about something other than Brexit, but I doubt he's going to succeed, he's been banging on about the same stuff since he became leader. They're preaching to the hard left choir.
