  1. Rather than using trebles has anyone used a true circle hook 2 snooded for Pike?
  2. Thank god for supermarkets then hey or we'd be treating fish with a little more contempt. Anglers care for fish, caring for their surroundings therefore caring for other surrounding animals. Without that yesterday hunting psyche there'd be a lot more shopping carts and a lot less fish in the water. Groups like PETA may have good intentions but they haven't a f****** clue what they're talking about. Fruit loops with more estrogen than testosterone. For many of us it was only 60 years ago that keeping chickens, hunting for food and necking our own game was human necessity. There wasn't a frozen section supermarket. Humans don't flick a switch and their whole biological evolutionary development shuts down. PETA are a cult of people who can't think for themselves. A bandwagon of followers who support a business entity to make people money not save the world. Many people who post topics like this are trolls. and s**** stirrers good reason why the topics should be deleted straight away pending their validity.
  3. If its going to go ahead have the UK rec fishing peak body have the government to sign an outcome time based contract on what they say they are going to do. Then theres no bulldust or procrastination on the said promises. You would think car parks would be used more than just by anglers. When you consider the VAT that the government collects especially further tourist fishing equipment from tourists this could negate tourist revenue especially when the sea fishing is already deplorable from commercial overfishing as it is.
  4. When connecting a leader especially with mono and the leader is double the mainline it pays to tie a double in the mainliine then tie a double Uni with that. That way the line diameters are similar when joining the two and maximum knot strength is achieved. When laying on your mono line run it under tension through a wet or damp cloth. Don't go ballistic on the tension, finger tight. If your overhead real doesn't have a pawl based line layer when you wind the line on every say approx 50 metres do a radical zig zag to prevent line cutting back in on its self when put under pressure. That way when you belt out that mega cast or under pressure to a big fish the line isn't cut in and the line lets off an almighty crack. When laying the line don't be obsessed with ultra mega tension especially on graphite spools because the nature of mono especially around 30lb will create that much pressure you could warp or blow the spool to pieces. When laying braid be sure to underlay with mono as a full spool of braid can spin on especially an aluminum spool. Braid has relatively no stretch so less tension is created hence a full spool slip. Personally if I have a small spool which will need a full spool of braid I wrap electricians tape 2 wraps on the spool to prevent a full spool slip. I cant guarantee its definite success because haven't yet done it long enough (2 years) to say its a certainty. If I lose a lot of braid for some unknown reason there is no reason why you cant top shot with say fluorocarbon. Remember though that depending on the brand of braid it maybe as much as 50% stronger than its stated rating so while you may have success before with the lower rated fluorocarbon you may get bust offs with what is certainly a more correctly stated breaking strain. You can top shot with the use of a double uni or a bimini double and roll knot or Albright. Many land based anglers are starting to do this. If the topshot becomes damaged you can rip it off and replace without the full cost of a new spool of braid. The carbon also has low stretch properties but not as great as braid. The fluorocarbon is a great idea if you are fishing reefy areas where braid will be cut easily by serrated objects.
  5. On start up boot into safe mode by holding down the F8 key Run Spybot or Adaware from there. If adaware is web updated it should have rid most of the nasty items. Also do a virus scan while you are in safe mode. Check your hard drive isn't full prior to any of the above.
  6. A bubble jet costs about 6 pence a page B/W and a laser 3 cents. Lasers have come down in price so if your doing b/w a laser might be the go. Lasers pump out higher definition pages. Keep the colour bubble jet for the small amount of colour you may print.
  7. An expensive lesson to the perpetrator and others the consequences of their actions. No one wishes the mental and physical anguish that will taunt the perpetrators for the rest of their living lives. Forever looking over their shoulder time will see them serve their justice. The butterfly effect will see them face their nemesis. Someone knows. Under the brave face of violence are ghosts that haunt them. For each child I teach to tie a knot or hook a bait the mindset is fishing can change their lives even if it is one less short lived RIP. May his loss be a rock in a pond of awareness to those who may make the same mistake. My condolences to those affected. This guy knows Youtube Video ->
  8. Im not becoming the fish, I am the fish
  9. Boilie drill a sugar cube, slip it on a hair and watch it fly. Saves the enviroment
  10. Plain white bread Carp Paste would work
  11. Where did he go? Youtube Video ->
  12. Dependant on your cam you maybe able to use USB in the form of a USB cable instead of Firewire. USB2 is comparable in speed to firewire. A USB cable dependent on the Cam will be compatiable to other devices. eg my USB cable is compatible to my 2 Canon cameras, Nokia 6300 phone the list goes on. As for production of the media XP has Windows Media maker pretty much standard or a secondary download. If you wish to upload them to the net best keep them as short as possible. This keeps the file size down making the film more accessible to users has the video takes less time to load on lower DSL speeds or Dial up users. Compression is to be considered which removes certain pixels and further reduces the file size. The smaller the file size the better until the quality of the imagery is compromised. Websites like youtube enable you to upload a video in many formats and compacts/compresses the file suitable into flash video. That makes it easier than finding a suitable format. If your file is very large then it will take a long time for you to upload the image to the net. People are welcome to correct any inaccuracies they see in the information I have posted.
  13. You can buy Pollard (chickens) or similar at some feed stores. You'll find that once you buy the same material that is in the good ground baits you'll be pretty much up round the same cost. As said before try watering it down with plain. The issue with buying bulk is keeping large amounts safe from mice attack.
  14. Cheers Ill ask them prior. Using a braid hair rig does seem odd. If there was to be scale damage etc you would have thought the immediate end tackle was going to cause scarring? I have a couple of spools so Ill spool one with fluorocarbon. Considering lines like fireline are coated youd think the properties wouldn't be far off nylon or fluorocarbon. Cheers for the advice, appreciated.

What about a twisted leader of about a yard before the rig? That would absorb any impact to the fish and provide added protection via its length against any fraying of the fish when braid strikes the body of a fish?
  16. Try a Oshaunessy hook style in about a 6/0 depending on the size of the bait. Chop 25% off the tail end of the fish bait. Thread the hook through the tail pull out other side then place the hook through the gill so the point sits exposed out the other side. You can also snood a smaller 2/0 and set it through the top of the tail end. When the fish swallows the bait head first the hook will be set up with the point in the correct position to get a true set.
  17. Hi there people Initially I purchased braid for fishing the canal and some of the parks. I have been invited by a friend to fish a private lake with 4 others for Carp. I am unsure if braid is permitted on the lake. If I top shotted the braid with 50 yards of Fluorocarbon would that be Ok? I normally fish with 5 metres of fluorocarbon leader anyrate. Is it just braid hair rigs they are concerned with which may damage or fray a fish? Thanks in advance
  18. Have a look at a Scientific Anglers lines depending on what you are doing.
  19. Seirakowskis Kayak was bitten in half at Cottesloe beach Perth WA a few years back while paddling up the coast. A few years later a bloke was bitten in half while swimming at dusk.
  20. If you are using high carbon hooks then best cut the line and put the fish back in the water ASAP. The hook will rust out in short time. Barbless hooks are even better as you can remove with about 10% of the effort. Ideally you could step up to a bigger hook if you wish to increase the size of the catch.

    Wildlife

6 Large Manta rays hearding plankton in a near perfect circle out of the Dampier Achipeligo off Legendre Island. Once one of the Cobia were hooked on a Popper one of the Manta Rays would peel off the circle swim over and bust the line with their wing then swim back to what they were doing. How the Manta Rays had the awareness to carry out this who knows. Like a form of ESP communication or an understanding of what takes place who knows?
  22. Id be looking at white balance settings. There is also settings that allow for this specific change of colours in certain cameras. Apeture and exposure times make a difference also. Automatic isnt bullet proof. Digi cameras are not perfect in low light. My Canon G7 took a swim in a pond yesterday. Immediatley the battery was removed and left to dry out. This morning it appears ok. Only time will tell.
  23. Or they put the key in unlock the bollard and reverse out Or a bollard has been pasted in
  24. I have a 77c with smart cast and they could be water temp/speed, power, extGPS, barometric pressure. Look for a schematic for your particular model. You dont have the instruction manual? That would have a schemata.
