  1. http://www.facebook.com/wfnhookinup Just a little something to wet your appetite! Myself and a workmate struggle to get the time to go fishing together and this weekend our time off has coincided for Sunday and off we are going. An older driver at work just looks at us and shakes his head saying " why bother just sitting there watching this float thing go up and down all day, doesn't it get boring" This is the man who comes to work even if he doesn't have a job to do to escape his missis who gives him serious grief (divorce in the offing)! All we can say to him is if he'd rather get that grief or be shoving a coach up and down the country as we normally do who's got the problem? 49 years old, been fishing since I was a nipper, ain't never gonna change!
  2. It's just a 3 lake day ticket water, what's the problem with that? £10 for two rods! It's owned by the Godalming Angling Society, who have night fishing waters, but with Marsh Farm they are offering non-members a chance to catch some really nice Tench,Crucians and silver fish. It's also thought that a record Crucian will come from there some time. Admittedly the net rule seemed a bit restrictive but as I've pointed out they seem to have modified this. I've been mainly carp fishing behind alarms for a while (when work allows) but want to watch a float or a tip for a change, this is a good venue for this. Last time I was there I had Crucians over 2lb and several Tench topped by a 6 pounder.
  3. Just to add, the rules section of the website does not appear to have been amended but the Day Ticket section and News Section has. http://www.marshfarmgodalming.co.uk/News/news.htm http://www.marshfarmgodalming.co.uk/Day_Ti...Day_Tickets.htm Bearing in mind the catch reports are from April last year they ain't too great at keeping the site up to date!
  4. I'm going there tomorrow and saw this on their website. I phoned up to clarify the situation and they said that if you bring your own net they will inspect it to see if it's dry and if ok you can fish through to closing time after the shop closes. I've checked their website and since I first looked earlier in the week it has been amended to say this. Looking forward to it and the weather looks good too!
  5. On the advice of Wareham Tackle we ended up at Todber Manor up near Shaftesbury and be honest it wasn't great. We fished Wadmill lake and even though it was mooted as the runs lake between the 3 of us my mates got a carp each at about 5lb and I weighed a Bream to 5 which I caught on my float rod having got bored looking at my bite alarms. It was the same around what we could see of the lake, although it looked to be getting a bit better at dusk. We stuck it out until about 8.30 but lack of proper night equipment/shelter meant we had to go. Was a nice day out away from the rat race and beer was consumed when we got back to Poole
  6. Beeches Brook is no boilie but Hordle website says in moderation which suits my usual method of fishing, ie 1 boilie + a PVA bag of pellets.
  7. Myself,a mate and his son were supposed to be going to Broadlands near Southampton on Saturday for a bit of lazing in front of our buzzers but have found out the main lake is closed for a charity match. Now we are going to be based at his sons flat in Poole and he will be coming from his girlfriends in New Milton. We are not expert carpers by any stretch of the imagination but have caught up to 17lb before (me at Twynersh, Chertsey last weekend, my PB) and would prefer to stick two boilie rods out and wait or maybe do a bit of floating if bored later. Any suggestions at all? And sorry I've not posted much, I just haven't had the chance to do much fishing for some time!
  8. Lucy's Granpa died & she went to comfort her Gran. In conversation it came out that Granpa had died while making love to Gran! Lucy was horrified that two people in their 90's were having sex! Gran explained they would make love every sunday morning to the sound of the church bells, nothing too strenuous just in on the ding & out on the dong! If it hadn't been for that bloody ice cream van he would still be alive today!
  9. If you receive an email entitled 'Bedtimes' delete it IMMEDIATELY. Do not open it . Apparently this one is pretty nasty. It will not only erase everything on your hard drive, but it will also delete anything on disks within 20 feet of your computer. It demagnetizes the stripes on ALL of your credit cards. It reprograms your ATM access code, screws up the tracking on your VCR, and uses subspace field harmonics to scratch any CD's you attempt to play. It will program your phone auto dial to call only 0908 numbers. This virus will mix antifreeze into your fish tank. IT WILL CAUSE YOUR TOILET TO FLUSH WHILE YOU ARE SHOWERING. It will drink ALL your beer. FOR GOD'S SAKE, ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION?? It will leave dirty underwear on the coffee table when you are expecting company. If the 'Bedtimes' message opened in a Windows 95/98 environment, it will leave the toilet seat up and leave your hair dryer plugged in dangerously close to a full bath. It will not only remove the forbidden tags from your mattresses and pillows, it will also refill your skim milk with whole milk. *** WARN AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN. *** And if you don't send this to 5000 people in 20 seconds, you'll fart so hard that your right leg will spasm and shoot straight out in front of you, sending sparks that will ignite the person nearest you. Send this warning to everyone!!! THERE'S A LOT OF SADNESS IN THE WORLD! Right now, as you read this, 17 Million people are having SEX!!! And look at you - you're on the bloody computer!!!!
  10. Well they're both back so who knows! How Pakistan could affect a forum for an old 80s band I don't know. All a bit strange as other people on the forum have had no problems.
  11. " http://www.level42webdigest.com/forum/ Windows fire wall (tried switching off but no difference), AVG 2-3 days ago Server not found "Firefox can't find the server at www.level42webdigest.com. * Check the address for typing errors such as ww.example.com instead of www.example.com * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web." Flash installed
  12. As the title says I'm having problems getting to a couple of my favourites. Youtube is one and the other is a site relating to a band I follow. All other favourites are fine including a few p**n sites so security doesn't seem an issue. I mainly use Firefox but also have the same problem using Explorer. I can't even link to Youtube from Google or another site. Very strange problem. I have done all the usual restarts and cache clearing but nothing, any help gratefully recieved.
  13. The day ticket water I fish has some good margin fishing with carp 6lb upwards. I'm looking to spend say £30-£40 on a float rod with a fairly high line capability and the strength to cope with the odd double figure lump. Any recommendations at all?
  14. Yup, my guvnor is loving it, what with the price of diesel he's also had to spend in the region of 500 grand on 4 coaches that will be LEZ compatible. Oh and yeah the whole fleet is 5 so 4/5ths had to be replaced. My view is this. A bit off the original post but relevant to London I reckon. 50 years ago we drove around in cars that had crappy exhaust systems, carbs that had to be adjusted every other day and 4-5 star petrol. Nowadays nearly all cars have catalyst converters, ECUs that control the fuel systems and we have lead free fuel. Most companies are developing hybrid vehicles so it seems that in maybe another 50 years time we will all be driving something that puts next to nothing into the atmosphere. So all I say to Ken and the like is be patient, it will happen maybe not in our lifetime but it will happen. In the meantime FFS give the people of today a chance to trade and compete to at least leave some kind of legacy for our descendants. Back to the tunnel...........what kind of difference must there be to emissions with all these vehicles now virtually stationary as opposed to flowing when the third lane was in use. Livingstone..........I say it again, To**er!
  15. No fatal accidents, the odd minor accident and the occasional idiot, and Herr Livingstone and the Poliztfuhrer decide to feck up the lives of thousands of motorists. God I'm glad I live in Surrey...............oh wait, my job takes me to London a lot of the time! Arse! By Adolf Livingstones reckoning the fact that the lane is an accident waiting to happen means it has to be closed, so there goes the M25 and most of the roads in and around London! T*ss*r!
  16. "this is mission control to space shuttle Enterprise" beep "receiving, mission control" beep "err, Enterprise............are you missing an astronaut?" beep " Oh beep, Bransons off again!" beep
  17. Look I'm sorry to get back to the original theme of the thread but this woman was just plain wrong to call the teddy Mohammed and deserved the time in jail if not worse, it's the deportation back to Liverpool that I have a problem with! :D With this in mind I decided as a protest against Sudan I would rename my "old fella" Mohammed. As a punishment I'm going to give him 40 strokes tonight!
  18. It's not really that relevant but I have to say I hate her music, it really doesn't do it for me but having lost a cousin to the dreaded heroin I really feel for her. She is undoubtedly a talent in her own way and I accept very popular to many. I just wish the bloody press could be made to leave her alone, they are just waiting for the inevitable car crash to sell their damned papers. I wish she had cancelled her tour and concentrated on getting herself straight. Having her husband imprisoned won't have helped and it seems at this time she should just lay low and turn to her family and friends to help. My cousin went through many ups and downs but couldn't break the cycle and eventually it claimed her life. Yes, Amy probably does have the money but I feel she has to be in the right environment to help her get better. Having to play will put her under enormous pressure as will hubby being in prison. As I said she needs to get with family and try and stay out of the limelight. The music business is a real crock in ways, people will cream you for what you've got and not give a toss when you have problems. It's all about the money, how long before her record company drops her for the next great thing?
  19. It's all pants isn't it! These people just seem to have so much control over your life. Recently i got my credit rating sorted by paying off a lot of debts and got a Barclaycard with £1000 limit on it. At the same time I upgraded my NatWest bank account to a proper current account. So NW said to me we can give you a good deal on balance transfers with OUR credit cards. So I applied for one. At the same time I had a weeks holiday booked with the knowledge that I had about £600 left on the Barclaycard having used some of it to buy a car. The Natwest card got rejected. At the same time Barclaycard suddenly reduced my limit to £400. I can only guess my credit rating got lowered. When I complained they couldn't explain except to check with a credit agency. They also had the gall to ask me where I was going on holiday so that they could keep an eye on my usage for security reasons. A reasonable thing to do until I told the person on the phone WHAT ****ING HOLIDAY! I was relying on having a few hundred to back me up and you pratts have taken that away from me! A bit removed from the original moan but another example of how these bureaucratic assholes rule our lives.
  20. I have just changed my bank account. I have to tell everyone that I have different details for my direct debits. I am stupid. I didn't tell Vodaphone until it was too late and my details didn't go through until after the DD date. So I used my phone last night ok, but when I wake up this morning it's cut off. So with all this technology why can't it just flag up as a problem and some little minion just give me a ring to say "OI! you ain't paid, yer gonna get cut off" But no...........that's too easy, after all why would a phone company have access to a phone to make sure their customers are happy, they could use the same phone that they use to try and sell me something but maybe that's in a different room or continent! So to sum up........it's all sorted now, I used my landlords home phone to phone in a debit card number, oh yes when they cut you off you can't even ring THEM on your phone to sort it out, totally dead....an ex-sim card, it has ceased to be, although it's now back to life praise the Lord! Let's just get this right.........you are vodaPHONE, yes accent on the PHONE, so when I pay up to £60 a month to you just a little PHONE call would be appreciated if there's a problem, Rant over PS You're a PHONE COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! use the bloody phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Lets get something straight, at no time have I said I feel aggrieved at my working conditions. As I have said in an earlier post I feel aggrieved about people who seem to do a lot less hours than me for more money but are never satisfied with their lot. I drive a coach. I quite enjoy driving a coach and the money is ok for my needs. We all could do with a bit more on the lower end of the scale but I'm not going to walk out over it. In my job I walk in on a Monday morning to be given my work tickets for the week which could have any shift or hours involved. In fact none of it could be called a shift, it is totally fluid. One day may be 6.30-5.30 with anything and anywhere in between, other days may finish later, start earlier......anything! I accept this as part of the job and it is one of the elements I enjoy, very variable. But........some weeks I walk in and it's straight days(usually when schools on holiday) and no overtime so basic pay. Now most coach drivers are in the same boat but we just get on with it. A lot of us are married with kids and just get on with it, all hours, we just get on with it! If I want a pension I finance it my self, nobody helps me or guarantees anything. Only some of the bigger companies have schemes. As I have said..........we just get on with it! On another note, if these guys get in so early and finish early how come I don't get my post until after 11am. You could say that I'm on the end of the route, well then I must have been on the end of the route for all of the 5-6 times I've moved in the last 15 years!
  22. Yup thats how I work, we call it a rolling week except I have to do 50 hours before the overtime kicks in! Now this could be at any time. I could have to work any hours in the day or night, driving hours allowing. So realistically a postie could do three 10 hour days and then one at 9 and then be on overtime. That leaves 3 days to make the money up. I usually don't get until sometime on Friday before I've done near my 50. Sounds like a good crack to me. Sorry if I sound cynical but there are plenty of people out there who do a lot more hours for less pay for far more responsible jobs, from my point of view bus drivers, coach drivers(like myself), away from transport most the of jobs in the NHS are not very well paid, nurses etc. I did a bit of agency work for the PO and it was an absolute doddle for all around. Then the pinch came and they didn't hire in much and the full time staff kicked off as they actually had to work most of their shift, ahhh shame!
  23. Does the fact that most of the posties are back mean that to clear the enormous backlog they are going to have to do extra shifts and overtime..........more to the point are they then paid for said extras. That'll help make up for any money lost during the strike. Apologies if I'm wrong! But if I'm not......................
  24. Rumour is that Mr Spock has been arrested whilst trying to beam out of the ground! He is said to be disappointed that his Vulcan death grip now appears to have a 2 second delay.
