  1. Ok here are my top ten 'desert island discs' with an explanation as to why i like each. Feel free to comment on them and add your own! 1. Queen - Greates Hits (1) - my first ever album and still outstanding now, whenever i listen to it i still love every single song on it! 2. Pink floyd - The wall - if you havent listend to it then go out and buy it now, excellence, just utterly amazing, it is a master peice, a film, an album and a part theatrical part musicl live tour all rolled into one! Will there ever be anything like it? 3. Iron Maiden - Best of the Beast - A fairly recent purchase and i just cant belive how much i like this album, it is utterly brilliant, i think i will have to be investing in some more maiden! 4. Deep Purple - Made in Japan (a live album) - Ian Gillan has the most amazing voice and Ritchie Blackmore is equally good on guitar! Also some awesome organ playing! 5. Rage Against the Machine - self titled - Took me a while to get into rage but now I love em! there has never been music like it, it was completeley revolutional, political and at the same time brilliant! 6. Nivarna - Nevermind - Everybody owns it or knows someone who does, nuff said! 7. QOTSA - R Rated - I thought music was getting a bit dull untill i heard this, superb, rather than 10 songs in a row its a complete album where all the songs lead into one another and they all tell a story as does the album as a whole, if you dont belive me than listen to it! 8. Oasis - Standing on the Shoulders of Giants - by far my fav oasis ablum!! I suppose i like it for much the same reasons that i like the above choice. 9. Stone roses - Second Comming - Anyone who says this is **** dosent know what they are talking about! admittedly its the only stone roses album i own but that will change! 10. Led Zepplin - there fourth album - an inspirational and amazing band, at the time they came out there was nothing like it, they started 'metal' even though they have always called themselves a folk band. Every rock album that came after it had somthing to thank them for and in my opion this is the best of the bunch! I can honestly say that if i could only listen to these ten albums for the rest of my life I dont think i would ever get bored, but if i had to choose only one album an that would be the only one i could ever listen to it would have to be Pink floyds - Pulse.
  2. reel big fish are pretty good, jake what is your parts of the world, if its america then i am not suprised that they have not made it over there as very few british bands do!
  3. red hammer, wierd, we had to write a story at school once about the adventures of a red hammer, we got the first paragraph and had to carry it on from there, i wonder if 98% of people had to wirte that story?
  4. Nah that was great mate, well done, thats a huge chub!! Is the witham and district stretch day ticket then?
  5. Hi jem, I'm not sure where exactly cleaveland is but i seam to remember you asking about the stainforth and keadby canal on a thread not to long ago, well if your anwhwere near there or prepared to travel then theres a club called brigg whizzo based in brigg, 3 miles from scunthorpe, which has a junior section which i used to fish for, there are loads of juniors in the club and it is well funded/sponsored, they have a load of matches throuought the year which are for juniors only and they take part in the junior and intermediate nationals, as well as some other nation wide junior events, if you can get there then i would suggest this is a really good place to start.
  6. So you decided to give the bain a go again!! I see you caught - chub baits thread. How did you get on?

    romania

Some big big carp in romaina i think. (Like 80lbs+)
  8. Phew, its a good job you have cos ive sold it now!
  9. I fish the trent just downstream of newark a fair bit.
  10. In the local i drink tetleys and its just gone up 10p to £1.87 i think, when i go into town its about £1.15 for a crappy pint of smooth john smiths at the wetherspoons, then when we move onto a club we either drink Vodka coke, Which i paid £4 for a double of the other night, boddingtons, £2.20, Diesel (boddingtons, lager and blackcurrent) which is a pound in happy hour and on sundays and £2 normally. I would say £2.20 is average for a pint of guinnes.
  11. Bretty, there are still a few on ebay and i may have one for sale, let us know if yu are interested Mally
  12. I think i may know what the problem is here, you say the line is a low diamiter one, it sounds like you may have bought a pole line / hooklenght rather than a reel line, this line would havethe characteristics you describe if loaded onto a reel, what make/model is the line?
  13. Hi alan, Thanks for the comments on the diary, its nice when people comment I fishe the bain a bit downstream from horncastle, i dont know if its a proper stretch, as in i dont know if its run by anyone cos there are no signs up but there is a public footpath along the side of it, ive nevr seen anyone when ive been there though, As for the trent ive no idea about east stoke, ive never fished there, i mainly fish between dunham and winthorpe, but when i fish the trent i usually fish a maggott with maggotts feeder halfway across re-casting about every 10-15 minutes too keep the bait going in, if there are fish in front of you you shouldn't go far wrong with that, i usually feed a stick float line too. Good luck and let us know how you get on. mally
  14. I have to say, unless i was fishing with a very light hooklink then i would have swung those fish out, i would not have used my landing net, he does look like a bit of a tw*t pointing at the fish but i dont think he was doing anything particularly wrong, another thing i think you were a bit quick to have a go at elton, not once did he say thats how he thought you handled fish, he did not mention your name once, he mearly gave his opinion on the matter as you did and as i have, you need to be a bit more thoughtfull in future before you reply Cheers Mally
  15. Well ive had time to have a good look through my gear and it appears the only thing they have taken from my stuff is one diawa reel, really strange! but all my brothers stuff is gone except his nets! The coppers rang up yesterday and they reckon they might have the blokes, sombody has reported seeing someone putting a bike and some fishing tackle into there garage, the police have done a 'raid' today but we are still waiting to hear from them!
  16. Cheers singhy, i'll see whats missing tomorrow and then i'll see what i'm doing and i'll drop you an e-mail, thanks again mally!

Anyway I'm sure he will, gulp! Mally

How long does it take for the seagulls to pop? That is really funny, When i lived in aberdeen they used to be so annoying, there were thousands of them, like rats with wings! They were huge as well, Most people in aberdeen call then Sh*t hawks! I am a deep sleeper so the gulls making noise wouldn't wake me up but i regularly got woke up at 5.30 - 6 am by gav who lived in the room next to me leaning out the window shouting 'Shut the f**k up' At the seagulls, a memory which i find most amusing! Mally
  24. Congrats on passing your medical! (did they feel your balls? horrible innit! Not as bad as being in that effing helicopter in the swimming pool though) I'm nowhere near morcambe bay or liverpool, I'm off aberdeen, I aint gonna kid ya, working offshore is more or less crap but you get a good wadge of cash and loads of time off which more than makes up for it!
  25. Thanks again guys, thanks a lot for offering to take me carping Paul, i'll see what I'm doing and I might just take you up on that, I still don't know if I've got enough gear to be able to go fishng! Plus i might be going down to the severn to see my mum and dad who are going down for a week on the severn so i would be a bit closer if i was down there! Thanks again Mally
