  1. Ah bit of comic relief at least you caught, I normally end up blanking if things are going that wrong!
  2. I know exactly what you mean about that lake, have done a fair few nights down there by myself, gets pretty eery down there once the sun goes down! Good effort to have a couple of fish out in daylight, only ever caught at night apart from a tench at first light

    28 October

Well done on two counts Chris, one for braving the weather and sticking it out! And two for the cracking perch, you must be chuffed!
  4. Bit late but happy birthday Steve!
  5. Four years?! I'd be losing the plot by now I hate waiting for new toys! Waiting 4 days for my welder to show up was bad enough!
  6. Does this mean I qualify as a grumpy old git at the grand old age of 25?!
  7. Nope you're not being a grumpy old git at all, it really winds me up too! Had it happen a number of times at Brimpton including an incident where I heard 4 anglers approach just as it got dark and start bitching that I was in 'Daves swim' that he had 'primed with a kilo of boilies'. They proceeded to set up in the manor you describe 2 upstream 2 downstream each taking at least 5 casts per rod to hit 'pukka spots' with what sounded like cannon balls as leads. I waited until they were all set up and moved further upstream, no sooner had I stepped away from the swim and the one I imagine was 'Dave' was moving into 'his swim'.
  8. Out of curiosity tigger do you tend to trot with maggot? (looking through your pics there's quite a few with double red?) And what size hook? I know I said I wouldn't look in on your thread anymore I just can't help it, would love to have a stretch of river like yours!

    Rod build

I tried one link and got forwarded to an image of a young lady with a different sort of rod in her mouth!
  10. To travel that distance in 5s (shouldn't even take that long to get to your rods) the boat would have had to be travelling nearly 45mph and would have been long gone before any exchange of insults

    A new rod.

Just out of curiosity how much can you get blanks for? The only ones I've ever come across are very expensive, more so than just buying a ready made low to middle of the road rod
  12. I always tend to use drennan red maggot in 18 to 3lb nylon for most of my trotting, no reason why other than I bought a pack and never had any problems with them so I stuck with them and have never had any issue with grayling coming off or bending the hook. In fact the only time I've had an issue with one was when I hooked a barbel and even then it held for quite some time

    A new rod.

I would be interested in seeing the process step by step, I've toyed with the idea for a while as I enjoy a challenege but always put it off
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsqsSn-8fCI Considering the guy on the bike pulls in front of him then starts braking it is his own fault he got hit. Personally if I had the mrs and kids in the car and put in that situation where there is at least 100-1against me I would have done the same thing although I would have avoided an area where the traffic was likely to be built up!
  15. I'm becoming more and more convinced someone has removed all the barbel from the Kennet and placed them in your stretch of river Tigger, once again very jelous! Must remember to stop looking at your thread Well done by the way
  16. They did that to one of the lads at work, offered him £1500 online then showed up and from a short drive round the block 'found a problem with the engine' (the car was recently serviced and drove perfectly) and said they could give no more than £400!

    23 September

Just out of interest were you on an NAA or TAA stretch? Even Hambridge still hasn't thrown up a barbel for me this year

Well done Chris cracking barbel! I've still yet to land a single one this season
  21. Can't say I can top it! Although I would be slightly concerned with having my face plastered over the news as being the ones to find it and report it considering they think it's been in the water less than a month. Things like that don't end up in rivers from your average nice person and is most likely linked to some form of crime
  22. Very nice! My Volvo is the comfiest car I have ever owned, still going strong after 14 years and 128k!
  23. Youtube is a nasty place, hope you have thick skin! I don't think I've come across many videos where there aren't people throwing all kinds of abuse and insults around!
