    Bobbins

    Right, thank's for that Richard.

    Bobbins

I've bought some of the muddy waters bobbins (ptfe) and have just realised that you have to buy the chain/cord and attachments seperate. The thing is I don't want their chain, I just want the screw for the bottom of the bobbin to add my own cord. Has anyone got any idea where I can get them ? I don't know but I would imagine the thread size is the same as other bobbins.
  3. I fish the ribble and there are some members on AN who know the river inside out and have fished it most of their lives and I would imagine none of them have caught more than a handfull of carp in there if any at all over many years of fishing it. We know that they're present but not in an ammount to cause a problem to other species. Lets face it they've been present in the ribble for many years and haven't exactly "bred like rats", and if they have all they've done is provide a food source for other species of fish as I've never seen any offspring swimming about. The only way carp can turn a water into a mud hole as you say is if they are put into a water in large ammounts/overstocked otherwise they wouldn't be a problem...well in my opinion. I know waters that are crystal clear, full of weed and wildlife and abundant in lots of fish species that contain carp. By the way trying to catch one of them is no easy task !
  4. Well done ........................................now where's mine !
  5. I know which I'd sooner of caught when I was a kid and it wouldn't have been little gudgeon etc. Regarding overstocking established ponds etc then that's up to the owner how they stock it wether you or I like it or not. I'd prefer people to build purpose made puddles to fish for their stockies rather than spoiling natural waters by overloading them with carp or any other species for that matter........ but that's life, and it certainley ain't the carps fault.
  6. I reckon the fish that would least bother the majority of anglers would be Catfish and/or sturgeon. Lets face it there arn't really that many waters containing them and not that many anglers who target them. I can't understand people who dislike carp, I love em even though I rarley target them. They are also enjoyed by the majority of anglers so where the hate comes in beats me.
  7. Check these out budgie 250570030351.............250570030165 I know there not the metal lipped ones but if they go cheap enough they might be worth a stab. I suppose if you keep your eye out you'll get the 6010 spools anyway.
  8. Depends on the area where you live really. Not really much point in nameing a river 2hrs drive away.
  9. Budgie I have two (well, had two 8010's just gave them to my m8) and I had several 6010 spools which fitted them perfectly. I think the later 6000gte's and 8000gte's fit one another also.
  10. Budgie, 8010's will fit perfectly the spools are exactly the same but deeper to hold more line. I'd say your best bet's ebay, there's usually some on there for auction. This might be ok 180460359742 {Just made your link 'live' - Elton}
  11. A 125 yrds spool of Berkley fireline Crystal in 10lb breaking strain, loved by some, hated by others including me. If anyones interested they can have it for a tenner including post.
  12. Unfortunatly I'm not going to the Itchen Budgie. I have used braid (power pro) before trotting for grayling on the river Eden on several occassions and appart from the horrible sound it was ok. I used it with a 18 inch mono bottom attached via a micro swivel. Even though I haven't used the Fire line Crystal and have only looked at it and felt it I just dislike it an awfull lot. To me it feels gritty(unlike power pro which is smooth) and it deffo isn't translucant as is advertised. It looks like white cotton in and out of water. Also it is no way as thin as 2lb mono as stated .....it's just not for me....I hate the stuff lol. In future if useing braid I'll stick with power pro. Obviously some people love it and that's great if it works for them. If anyones after a spool of fireline crystal, 125yds in 10lb give me a shout !
  13. Especially if it's livin at my house
  14. Jeepster, I think your right, I'm just getting wound up everytime I think about it. Maybe it's healthier to just try and forget it. I was talking to a trainee Barrister the other day and he said the uk border force was only started about two years ago and meant to control immigrants coming into the uk. He went on to say they where just a rush job for this purpose and have now got ideas above their station and are interfeering in other buisness they really shouldn't be involved in. It seems totally out of order that they can just steal perfectly legal property for no reason appart from trying to justify them keeping their jobs ! Thank's to everyone who's tryed to advise.
  15. Both 6 BB's just for the sake of argument.
  16. Well, I've just had a letter back from the UK Border agency after sending them a letter asking for my knife back and explaing in it that the knife is NOT a flick/gravity knife and also enclosing a photo copy of a shop selling the knife online in the uk (one of many)as a example to show there not illegal here in the uk. They replied saying that the knife is illegal and any shops selling it in the uk are doing so illegally ! There not giving it back to me! If I want to continue I've got to get a solicitor and go to court in London ! To say the least I'm very
  17. You do know you can get a crimminal record for that kind of thing these days George
  18. Rusty, if no one wants it then I'll most likely finnish up trying it out sometime. In the future though I'll be sticking to sensor in 4 and 6lb for most of my trotting. It just does nothing for me whatsoever but I suppose for some it might suite them perfectly.
  19. I've just received a spool of the stuff this morning and in all honesty I wish i hadn't bothered getting it. Well that's my first impression. Rather than feeling smooth it feels gritty to me and has the same feel as very fine wire. I also think someones got the diameter wrong as it looks much thicker than stated. I got 10lb, rated as being the same diameter as 4lb mono. When I put it next to 4lb mono it looked like a thick peice of white string. Regarding being invisable in water, well to me it's about as invisable as white cotton and not translucent at all. If anyone wants to buy a spool cheap mines for sale.
  20. That doesn't sound to good does it ? Power pro was smooth without knobles etc. I know it's a different make but I would have thought the braids are meant to be smooth. Maybe Chris Plumb can tell you if it's normal. Are the blobbs all along the line?
  21. I have to addmitt the diameter comparison to mono looks good but I wonder if it breaks above or below it's stated breaking strain ? I'd be interested to see how it's stood up in any tests.
  22. I wonder what the breaking strain to diameter is of fireline crystal ?
  23. Where they hit and hold stretches of river or could you give and take line Rusty ?
  24. You may well be right Budgie. I never had a problem using power pro and a 18inch bottom attached via a micro swivel when fishing for grayling. Thing is that was in quite a large open river and obviously the fish weren't exactly monsters so I don't know if fishing for larger fish using braid with virtually no stretch in hit and hold type spots will possibly cause hook pulls.....it just crossed my mind, but I'm most likely talkin through my crack LOL.
