  1. Jeepster knew that really basshead07....it's a middle aged thing; he's probably been paying too much attention to those spirits again!
  2. I wish I was confident enough to determine the maximum radius of a fish held in a folded attitude for a photograph....I'll suggest a possible 13lb on the assumption that this particular fish hasn't signed up to it's rivers stereotype.
  3. A friend of mine recently became the head of a small school graded by Ofstead as an 'excellent' one. She very quickly became aware that her school was failing it's pupils because most of it's teaching and commitment was in the core subjects only i.e. those scrutinised for the dreaded league tables. In short, the kids knew very little of many other curriculum subjects. She shocked her staff by telling them that things would be changing getting the constant response "but our results are excellent". The Schools Improvement Officer picked up on this too to her credit. Another example; a school that reaches it's potential maximum in terms of results achieved in one year would be seen as a failing school the following year because the government tells us a school needs to improve year on year. The sooner the stupid league tables system is abolished the better.
  4. Usually I'm one of the biggest sceptics of claimed weighs of photgraphed fish, but I'm with you on this Ginger. That's a big fish!
  5. Yep, got the same now but worked fine earlier at work. Sorry folks!
  6. Easy.....If they were to fish from a boat! But that's already been pointed out and ignored.
  7. 12 minutes long and you'll probably not stop singing the music thingy all day http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?...63343187879320

I'm going all out to beat my current 2lb 12ozs grayling best this winter.

    That was quality Steve.....
  11. Waders are one of my most important winter fishing items and I firmly believe you get what you pay for with them. I have a pair of Daiwa Altmor neoprene chest waders, which are fine, but splashed out on a pair of Simms breathables as I got too hot and sweaty in the neoprenes (even in sub-zero temps) after walking any distance. Things are much better in the breathables.
  12. Haha....takes some following. Ace!

  14. "Typical American response." Explain that please Steve!
  15. Great......can't wait to once again experience the great british driver and a tiny bit of snow!!!
  16. Haha....It's big Cory, but not that big!!!! And there was me thinking that you'd won that Witcher on Ebay the other day after it was withdrawn Glen....
  17. Damn.....I forgot to set the alarm. Just got up to see Alonso on his victory lap. Oh well....there's always the replay later.
  18. Absolutely shocking events. What I can't get my head around (as the father of two young girls myself) is him, apparently normally, taking his kids to school knowing he wouldn't see them again and then carrying out these horrific acts.......what was going through that mans head? Religion gone wrong?
  19. Not to detract from the kid if this proves to be true....but I had to question myself just then when I thought 'so what' on reading the news. Where have the days gone when a new record for certain species actually meant something to me.......? Maybe my wife is right and I am a miserable old git!!

Thanks for that HB. I've not been able to get out much with the camera due to work stuff (the puppy has been getting his walks in the dark - sure is spooky up on the Moor at 05:30 - but no good for pictures). I'll do some experimenting with it if I get the chance at the weekend.
  21. In my opinion, and certainly for the spate rivers I fish the 'pin on in winter time, a top quality pair of chest waders are an important piece of equipment to have. Wearing them more often than not means I can wade out to my chosen run and hence, there is no real need to cast any distance. Simply reel in at the end of the trot to the rod top and run the float down again......Just got to find the ideal maggot sling now. I've tried/own loads but am not totally happy with any of them.
