  1. It's as clear as a carp puddle, but my interpretaion of the rule is that you can fish with a junior licence until the day you are 17, when you will need a full licence
  2. Zig-rig, see http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/Rig-Section/Ca...gs/zig_rig.html
  3. Try http://www.penshurst-angling.com/ .
  4. There's a few different methods if you search the site, here's one thread with a few options... http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/Prepari...its-t74743.html I usually use them dry on a bait band or use the imitation plastic ones. It's not just a summer method on some waters, I had 3 carp on banded mixer a couple of weekends ago, all in the last hour before it got dark.
  5. Plenty of articles if you Google, here's a concise one with lots of pictures... http://www.fishingmagic.com/news/article.a...=9&uan=4773
  6. Plenty of links if you Google, e.g. http://www.romanlakesanglingcentre.co.uk/m...eeder-i293.html
  7. See http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/Leftove...hes-t66493.html. Any decent supermarket will have a vacuum pack of the pre-cooked fresh (not pickled) ones for less than a £1 in the pre-packed fresh sea food section. Some days the fish go mad for them, other days they're not interested at all, and there's been no middle ground when I've used them. Since the original post I've had a few 1lb'ish perch on them too as well as carp, tench and roach.
  8. Catch one decent fish and you're in trouble ... From the fishery website... "Unlike some large commercial fisheries, Dave's Pool is very informal and there are few rules with the exceptions that jokers, bloodworm and artificial baits are not allowed; groundbait should be used only in feeders; keepnets are allowed only in matches; and anglers should use only dry landing nets."
  9. I've found the answer to my first ever post here ... http://www.fisheries.co.uk/templefarm/index.htm
  10. Type on a (simple) calculator... 38 x 38 = M+ (memory plus) 11 x 11 = M+ (memory plus) MR (memory recall) Square root button There's something wrong with the education system of today!
  11. Correct, that's the square root of (38² + 11²).
  12. It's so good it's been done at least twice last year ... http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/silly-j...p;hl=thora+hird http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/Cold-We...p;hl=thora+hird

I've had them to 3lb from my local fishery and there are bigger in there. The inexperienced can and do confuse them with roach (and get excited when caught at that size ), although the tail/dorsal fin colour and larger mouth give them away.
  17. Doh, but how about this (in French)... http://users.skynet.be/rousse.chatelettain...indicateurs.pdf
  18. Is this it (Sidewinder)? There's even a video clip... http://www.ultrafloats.co.uk/t&t.php

  20. Relevant reminders from last weekend… Don’t bring your seat box in from the garage to sort out its contents without opening it in the garage first. If you open your seat box in the kitchen and see a pair of eyes staring back at you, close the lid quickly. If you don’t close the lid quickly, don’t scream. A mouse will happily jump all around the kitchen but won’t jump out of an open door. A folded scarf (with nibbled mouse holes) is a good weapon to stun a mouse without damaging the floor. When confronted with a stunned mouse, a heavy saucepan can be used for other purposes than cooking food. Women don’t like a mouse running around in their kitchen.
  21. It just missed my house if it took off East to West, hopefully I'll be at home next time... http://www.multimap.com/maps/?hloc=GB|le17...05se|LE17%205SE
  22. A proper "swimming pool" sized fishing pond! It looks like my perfect venue , apart from the ridiculous day ticket price .
  23. There's here too.. http://www.springrangefisheries.co.uk
  24. The last similar request is at http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/Night-F...ter-t74055.html Probably not much help though , as you already know about Watery Gate!
