We have a heavy, thick rug which we keep snugged up to the edge of base of the hearth but almost every next day, the rug is almost 2 inches away from it. It's been happening for weeks on end. The wife & I have both noticed this phenomenon & are at a loss as to the cause!! The gap is pretty well the same along its length, as though the rug has been pulled away from the hearth & we have no reason to walk over it!! No "Who Ya Gonna Call" jokes please.

I was far too young at the time but I was aware about Graham Hill being killed when his plane crashed.
